I can't help but think that extra pick was obtained to package all three to move up to the late teens or so. The 19th pick and our 2020 first sounds a lot more appealing to dump Deng. Dump Deng and resign Randle to something fair (15-18 range). We sign PG and Lebron and roll with that team. Next offseason, we would likely have little trouble unloading Randle, Ball, Ingram, etc to make a run at Kawhi (maybe even a sign and trade to whatever team he goes to). This gives us the chance to see our young guns for one more year to see if we're better off just rolling with what we have, and if not, we go after Kawhi.

This times 1000. Assuming we land PG and Bron, im not interested in trading for Kawhi unless it’s pennies on the dollar. Do exactly what you said and I’m sure we could find a way to land him next offseason if he still insists on going home.

Bucks have the 17th and I think are looking for more picks. Don't quote me on that.

watching what they do trade-wise is as important. i think they can probably offer memphis a deal they'd take for #4, but it could possibly take dallas out of the FA game if they do. interesting decisions there (not for me, though--if i'm dallas, i take on salary to get that pick and don't look back because i'm not making the playoffs in the next two years anyway).

Memphis would be stupid to make that deal. I get they're strapped for cash and all that, but that's way too steep a price. At #4 there's a good chance they get a piece they can build around in this draft.

Although, they've really struggled to get kids to work out for them apparently so I kind of get it.

dallas could offer them several different things. they have 14 million or so in space right now (not in july), so a trade of parsons/4 for say, dwight powell/top-10 protected pick next year solves a lot of problems for memphis. dallas could also offer harrison barnes for parsons/4, giving memphis a 3rd solid veteran player to complement conley and gasol should they choose to make a run at the playoffs next year (which i think their owner indicated they would). dallas could also do that powell scenario with matthews instead, which saves less money but again gives them a useful vet (who expires next year).

and yes, having FAs shut them out is definitely a problem there. welcome to kingsville, memphis. good work, hollinger, btw.

Well the problem is next year's draft is way worse than this one. The top 7 or so picks in this draft should be mostly bullet proof. Next year, you're looking at maybe 2-3 kids right now that project like NBA players.

I went through a mock top 30 on my L.A. Times this morning and couldn't find him. Has he dropped out of the 1st or I missed him?

He's looked at more in the top part of the 2nd round.

He's really small, so it's unlikely he can start in the NBA. Quickly:

    Pros-
    - Winner with a strong work ethic, part of two NCAA championship teams.
    - He is a good shooter
    - Strong base and a smart player

    Cons-
    - small at 6'2.25" in his shoes and not likely to be able to switch
    - used his strength quite a bit in college, bigger guys in the NBA
    - really an under the rim guy

A player comp I've seen (especially from Laker fans/analysts) is Derek Fisher.

Looks like we can have Divi if we want him. I saw him a couple spots below us in their mock. That would be fun with Lonzo and Hart.

Here's a little more Jalen Brunson. I love what he brings. I'd take him in the 2nd without question. Solid bench guard for us for 10 years.

Thanks. Didn't he get some national player award for the year?
