some interesting names you have near our second rounder: carr, diallo, bonga, graham. seems like good value for mid 40s.

or, like the article states, he could get past his injuries and grow into his body a bit more. it's a risk, for sure. if his medicals really look ok on the back, i think i take him after JJJ, ayton, and doncic are off the board. so, memphis. dallas gets screwed there, as i think there's a drop after those 4 to bamba/carter/bagley.

but someone always does something unexpected, so we'll see.

Carr was a guy who popped out to me. I think he'll be a real value pick in the 2nd. The key for him will be fitting in when he's not "the guy". Can he play off ball? Diallo is a wild athlete, but I don't know if he understands basketball. Bonga is someone I've had an eye on for a bit after his name came up last season. By all accounts he's improved and while enormous he's still not a terrific athlete or shooter. I'd take a flier on him late in the draft. Graham is someone I think can make an NBA team happy in the 2nd round just by providing 3rd string positive energy.

I'm looking more into Vanderbilt, Alize Johnson, Raymond Spalding (most mocks have him higher than I do), Kenrich Williams, and Devon Hall.

I feel bad for saying it, but I could definitely see that. I like Bagley and he's a talented kid, but he's going to join a long list of squandered talent over there. On paper he, Fox, and the young European kid should be a nice little core to build around, but we all know it's destined to fail.

It's likely. As Real already alluded to, he's a great fit for us and what we really need which is perimeter shooting and an underated passing game. At that size too, he's be able to play multiple positions.

He's been #1 on my list of guys I hope we draft.

Ray Spalding, F, 6'10", Louisville, Junior. He sat most of his sophomore and freshman seasons, but was put in the starting lineup as a junior and did pretty well. His most intriguing statistical profile is his 2+ blocks and 2+ steals per 40 minutes. He profiles as a hustle big with switch potential on 3-5 although he'll need to bulk up a lot. He's got some a little jumper, but nothing consistent. Solid athlete. I might have to move him up.

Jarred Vanderbilt, F, 6'9", Kentucky, Freshman. He played only 14 games last season due to injury. He has an interesting and versatile game, but a very slim frame. If he can't take the college rigors, how will the NBA treat him? That being said, he's a fantastic rebounder, a decent passer, and a good athlete. Worth a late flier due to his talent, but who knows if he'll ever get right?

Alize Johnson, F, 6'9", Missouri St., Sophomore. He's a real big kid, that's the first thing that jumps out. He's came in at 6'8" in his shoes, but carries himself bigger than that. He's a very good rebounder for his size and a solid athlete. He needs to be a better shooter. I could definitely see a team taking a shot on him sooner than I have him if he has a good workout. He did alright at the Combine.

Kenrich Williams, F, 6'9", TCU, Junior. He turned himself into a good shooter by his junior year. He's a very solid rebounder and a surprisingly solid passer (nearly a 2:1 assist/to ratio). He's a surprisingly decent ball handler for his size and just has a nose for the ball. He also averaged nearly two assists a game. He's a little heavy and might need to shed some weight so he can play more of a combo forward spot.

Alright you guys bear with me here...

Trying to get up to get Zhaire, who's projected as a mid 1st (around 13-18), has me thinking that maybe it's for a potential Deng dump?

Team taking on Deng says they at least need a mid 1st rounder in addition to whatever package we already offered them.

Potential dump sites are Indy, Phoenix, Chicago, Dallas, Sac & ATL.

Suns are probably out cause they have the 16th pick. So they don't need a mid 1st rounder. Chicago is at 7 and could potentially reach for a potentially mid 1st from that spot...so they're likely out. So that leaves Sac (2 & 37), Indy (23 & 50), Dallas (5, 33, 54) and ATL (3, 19, 30, 34).

I believe Zhaire is a smoke screen for #Dengdump team's true target. LA is just rumored with Zhaire to keep the Deng dump quiet and limit any possible tampering cases haters will try to build against us, cause what's about to come is alot of opt ins and deals before free agency hits.

Sac, ATL and Dallas will obviously try to trade down first, but maybe they want to stay put and not reach with their top 5 picks. So they want a mid 1st in addition to their top 5 picks in order to draft the other guy they love as well. Indy obviously is too low with the 23rd, so they need to move up in in case their target is gone by the time they pick.

If the 25th pick is in play with either this potential Deng dump then I would love to get ATL's 30th pick back to draft Robinson (rumored to be promised to be picked in the 1st round by us if still there?) and in some mocks he's dropped into the early 2nd round. But that ain't a deal breaker

The question is, who's on the chopping block to get this mid 1st round pick. Are we going the route of a 3teamer to get off Deng and move up?

Approach Jules with a max qualifying offer before free agency even hits (deadline is 6/29). That's 5 years starting at 25.4M. You think he says no? Trade him to the cLips for DJ (who opts into his final year) and the 13th pick. DJ uses the Cp3 route and forces cLips to get something for him rather than nothing. Jules gets a fat contract and doesn't even have to pick up and move. We get a rim protector and it aligns with the rumor that he's a secret target of ours. But the best part is it helps us get off Deng while we get to bring in about 3 max guys...check this out.

13, 47, future draft capital, Deng, Zu, TB tossed into the cap space of #dumpDeng's team. LA gets a fat TPE worth about 21M...and guess who can opt in and fits perfectly into that amount? OK, but we'll C that part later.

With DJ, Zo, BI, Kuz and Hart, LA is looking at about 40M in team salary and 61M in cap space. Convince Bron that he has his pick of Boogie or Cp3 to fit into that cap space with and once that occurs we can bust through the cap threshold with the TPE and 25th pick (OKC doesn't have a 1st rounder) we could trade for George (who opts in to his 20.7M final year). Some max dollar between Bron/ Cp3orBoogie will have to occur but youre potentially fielding a team of DJ/PG/Bron/Cp3orBoogie along with all our kids. All those vets won't mind sacrificing some of their bag to team up in that fashion.

Meanwhile we have the bird rights to both PG and DJ and can either give them fat extensions 6 months after free agency ends or we can repackage DJ with some of our kids to send him back home to Texas and bring Kawhi back home if things fall apart in SA.

The DJ /Jules-Dengdump trade had to occur before free agency and possibly during the draft. Signing Bron with Cp3/BoogiE had to occur during free agency and then trading for George along with the rights to the 25th pick would have to occur after we fill up our cap space. You can see how tampering with be the case along this route, but f*** the Dubs, cause titles yo!

Btw: Jules s&t hard caps us at 130M. DJ (24) PG (21) Bron/Cp3orBoogie (61), Zo/Bi/Kuz/Hart (16) = 122M; which means we still have the room exception (4.6) and vet mins to fill out the roster with the remaining 8M we have till we get to the apron.

    I'm lost. :D

We dump Deng to a team... who gives us a first higher than ours? I don't see it...

edit- to be clear this is their mock draft, not necessarily how they rank the players.

also to be clear, I'd be surprised if we let Mitchell Robinson or Jacob Evans fall below us for De'Anthony Melton. I'd also be surprised if we passed on Mykhailiuk at #47.

TL;DR: based off your recent intel of LA potentially hit with another tampering charge, DJ and PG both opt in and get traded to LA using the same Cp3 leverage route. The cLips are obviously used to it by now, so they get a maxed out Jules and some future draft capital (via us or Deng dumping site) for DJ while they still can. The 13th pick gets parlayed to future picks since they already have the 12th pick.

Anyways, I'm overthinking the smokescreens and rumors way too much...my TL;DR is heading for another essay...so I'll stop here.

So it would be some thing like Jordan/#14 for Randle/future picks?

Yeah...(opted in) DJ/13 for a maxed out Jules (6/29 deadline before free agency hits) and 25, 47 or future picks.

Send 13, 25, 47 or future picks, Zu and TB in a Deng dump and receive a 21M TPE.

Hit free agency with 61M in cap, assuming that Bron would have to shave off some from his true max to partner up with either Cp3 or Boogie with that cap space. Use the TPE, rights to 25 or 47 or future draft considerations to OKC for opted in George. They get a TPE now.

We have George and DJ's bird rights now and can extend them 6 months after free agency. Or we can reroute DJ (and his bird rights) along with some of our kids to bring back Kawhi.

The current and future draft pick details and protections are all up in the air, but the main one is 13 from the cLips being rerouted with Deng to a dumping site.

    Okay got ya.

That's a ton of moving parts, but would be wildly interesting. Except I have zero interest in Chris Paul. Everything else, I like; which is good because without Paul it becomes less complicated and a little easier to try to pull off. I think the Clippers turn it down though and instead try to move up by packaging their two lottery picks to go get somebody in the top 10.

Yeah, I'm just getting the sense that all these mid 1st round rumors are for the Lakers to gain that asset and attach it to dump Deng with. The team taking on Deng is probably asking LA to go get them a mid 1st.

Anyways, sure looks like if we keep the 25th pick or move up, it could be for Huerter...unless Jesse is smokescreening again.
