edit- damn! beaten twice in two days. I'm off my game!

Sounds like the Lakers tested the waters to see if anyone was sold on Jackson, but it didn't work. All signs point to Lonzo.

For the umpteenth time: D'Angelo is untouchable. You simply do not trade someone with his skill set at his age.

Unless the return is a huge net positive. We're talking a serviceable player in return, multiple 1st rounds.

I agree. His only question mark has been his immaturity. And that's not even in a trouble maker, criminal, or substance abuse type of way. He's just a little unfocused and Nick Young-ish, which I don't think is a coincidence. His "mentor" has been Swaggy-P. And his learning environment has been a coaching shuffle from stubborn, mind-games Boron to Luke, all while in a culture of Kobe farewell tours, extreme losing and tanking.

This climate doesn't negatively affect all young players, and it's not an excuse for Dlo. It's a rather logical explanation though, IMO. I have confidence that as Russell grows, when Nick is replaced by PG, the team has more that one tanking season of new coach Luke, and the team starts winning, he'll mature really fast and reach his potential. It's actually pretty incredible to see the stuff he's shown conisdering all of these things.

Kill me now with every casual shipping out the door of Randle or Russell. My opinion of course but I'm dying to see what our young guys have at least 1st 1/2 of the season. I think they are earning the chance to be able to show that with the efforts they reportedly are putting in.

I don't know about Collins, he wasn't even a starter, and a lot of his buzz came from a good tournament from what I remember. Maybe not a great idea to take a guy based on a good tournament same as not paying a guy a lot for one good playoffs (Jerome James).

He was highly recruited coming out of college as well. Made the All-American team. He's got a solid history of success. It's a fair point that he didn't start though. I think most of it is his high foul rate. He probably could have used another season in college to pick up the finer points of the game, but he's likely to be a Top 10-15 pick in either draft class anyway so there wasn't a point in staying.

What were the minor issues the Lakers ran into?
