Question: Who is this year's Doug Christie. Speaking of Scottie Pippen.

My brother have you seen the last 10 pages? I've been watching games. :D

And I don't see Kobe-esqueness in really anything Jackson does... What I see is a high level role player right now. I've seen that most of the year, but right now he doesn't create for himself consistently and his jumper may need a complete overhaul. I'm still fine if we take him, but I think Ball is still the right choice.

    Sacto is trading up.
The first work-out in Sacto of Jackson was for the lakers to potentially draft him at 2.
This one is for Sacto in LA to have LA potentially draft Fultz if Boston trades their pick to someone who wants Jackson No. 1.

Motley is a 4/5 in the NBA I think. Not a ton of wiggle, but a strong body. Needs to prove there's a jumper in there somewhere.

My guy is Semi Ojeleye in that #28 spot to approximate Jackson. Ojeleye doesn't even have half the vision that Jackson does, but he can shoot and defend.

Not reading posts so guilty as charged. But - Jackson in the Big 12 Tourney looked like Kobe at times. Step back with the sweep through shot to make room, jab steps, and drives for dunks....

I agree with you 100%. My concern on Jackson is offense, but on D he is such a beast. My concern there is maturity. I vote to let Sacto take him.

YouTube doesn't have any highlights of Pipp from college, but there is his draft video.

From what the scouting report described, he was 6'1 out of high school and grew 6 inches in the 3 years in college, so he already had a distinct set of PG skills. This is actually what happened to Brandon Ingram in high school, where he started as a 6'1 point guard, but grew 9 inches by senior year, hence his advanced handles for his size.

Based on what I saw on what seemed like a combine scrimmage video, Scottie had solid, thick body coming out as a junior, and was much stronger than a lot of players on the court.

Jackson could definitely add a few more pounds of muscle and develop that similar physicality in a couple years, but I think what is missing are the guard-like skills that allowed Pippen to excel at his size and athleticism

I don't have the energy to fire back tonight. I might make a better post tomorrow. All I'll say is that we're the main two running around in these circles. I just think over the next week we'll continue to have these disagreements because I think Ball is the clear right choice even though I'd be fine with a couple others. I agree with you that there's a general pro-Ball stance and some of those stances are biased. I get it though, the kid has some great stuff on film. I still think there's plenty here who will be okay if we don't pick Ball. Jackson has some great stuff on film. Tatum is a great iso scorer. Fultz obviously has lots of talent. I'm sliding on Fox, but i'd be okay trading down to get him.

No! Pippen had a 7'2" or more wingspan. Josh Jackson might be 6'10"!

Jackson has guard-like vision and ability passing the ball, but I'm faaar from sold on him as a ball handler. He has a rudimentary crossover and a decent step back with his footwork, but he can't shoot so defenses will just let him take jumpers all day long. It's going to really hurt whatever team takes him for a while. I know he ended up shooting 37% from deep, but the inconsistencies in his jumper are very, very concerning. It may need a complete overhaul.

I think if anything you're right Ingram skews more like Pippen to me. Unless there's a ball handler that I haven't seen in that #11 Kansas jersey, he's going to have a tough time creating offense for himself.

11 in Kansas reminds me more of Tayshawn.

He can get himself open, but he can't make the shot consistently. He tends to perform well under pressure, but I don't want the game to be on the line for him to make an easy shot. I really have my doubts on him creating at the next level against other wings. Usually in college he created against bigs. We'll see. Hopefully I'm wrong for his sake.

As for the kid from Purdue you mean Caleb Swanigan? I don't hate him. He just seems like a generic, under-sized Center to me. He showed some shooting ability in that last season, but he's generally not a fast or quick guy. He's a bully guy. I'm not sure he can bully at the next level, but if he can make things work I could see him as a David West-ish player. That type of player is sort of going instinct at the moment, but he could find a niche for himself.

Back when people were choosing between Kevin Durant and Odin - the choice was obvious - at least to me from watching KD at UT and with the 'injury' risk to Odin already out there. I wasn't the only one who saw that coming...

Wiggins v. Parker is a much better and more recent example.

So if I am looking at Lonzo v. Jackson. I say go with your gut. Lonzo is a sure thing with a 'floor' of Kevin Johnson. Jackson could be a trainwreck.

    Correct on both.

We are speaking the same language regarding Jackson though I am higher on him than you. Love his game. Love his intensity aka Dreymond out there. Same reason I love Motley for 28. Swanigan is the guy I like as a late pick sleeper - David West, Dale Davis, A.C. Green, Kurt Rambis, David Lee before he got hurt. Someone who can move people around and dare I say - Kevin McHale like.

I officially have draft fatigue. I'm going to trust the front office, and from every interview I've heard from the top prospects each kid seems like a smart kid. IMO Fox is the most likeable/has the best personality of the bunch, but this isn't a personality contest, so, repeating myself again, hope we take the best player at 2, or trade down if we want to take someone like Fox and get something good in the process.

Ball is going to be polerizing in these discussions because his stats combined with sample size, UCLA's play style and his demonstrated skills are so unusual.

It's hard to know exactly what you'd get from him because there isn't really any other player coming into the league like him.

Still, I'd take the risk and draft him at #2 right now

That is also why I think we are gambling....and trading down...figure on Fox being the 'hold card' if Lonzo does not fall past Philly/Phx.
