Simmons made some passes in summer league that had the court vision of just one other player. Earvin Magic Johnson.

Where he'll go with his career is anyone's guess, but I'll be watching.

The hype on Simmons reminds me of the hype that Greg Monroe was getting his senior year of high school and college. It will be interesting to see what Simmons develops into and whether he can sustain that point guard style. I think Monroe just settled in to a fixed position and no longer plays like his initial hype. Good player regardless.

Ben Simmons has shown me two things so far. Can't take a team in a lousy conference to the NCAA tourney. And an egg in the games played column for all 82.

Those are two things everyone in this forum has done the last 2 calender years.

It would also have been more diplomatic if he talked up D-Lo's playmaking/PG skills and emphasized his own off-ball/scoring abilities. Russell is better as a SG but the narrative should not be "Russell is not a PG". I know he didn't actually suggest that, but with so much media hating on Russell (and us in general), I could see people twisting Lonzo's words to stir up controversy.

What makes the potential Lonzo/DLo duo so intriguing is the versatility that should be there if both guys are unselfish. Lonzo will officially be the PG and will probably be the primary ball handler for a majority of the possessions. But DLo is still a pretty good playmaker/passer too.

Both of them should be able to seamlessly transition to the other guard spot depending on the situation when on the floor together. When Ball needs a breather, there will be times when Russell is the PG and vice-versa. Which is why I think having Ennis as the only back up PG will be sufficient (even though I'm not very high on him at all).

It's also why I don't care about the skepticism on Lonzo's pick and roll game. Not a big deal if Lonzo isn't an elite pick and roll player. Just give D-Lo the ball when you wanna run P&R.

Couldve possibly been one of if not the best player out of Chicago and could have gone on to be a great pro and potential HOF.

They did a 30 for 30 on him.

Ben Simmons is a big man with foot problems. That's scares the crap out of me if I'm a Philly fan. Hope he goes on to have a long successful career, but yeah, that's not a great sign.

I saw a rumor on FB about Boston trading the #1 to Sacramento for 5 and 10. I don't put much stock in it, but.....

Fultz was scheduled to work out for Sac today, but didn't at the last minute. No idea what to make of it.

The original rumor was Sac moving up to 1 to take Fox. Which means we'd take Fultz. And I'm stuck with a Ball jersey. LOL

Take from all this what you will.

    http://www.sbnation.com/nba/2017/6/...ento-kings-boston-C Bags-nba-draft-2017-trade

Washington guard Markelle Fultz is the heavy favorite to be the first pick in the 2017 NBA draft on June 22. Right now, the Boston C Bags hold that pick. Why, then, is Fultz reportedly set to work out for the Sacramento Kings?

Fultz is entering the draft as the consensus top player, but we have no idea how Danny Ainge and Boston’s brass views him. This is a deep and talented draft within the top 10. It’s possible Ainge likes another player just as much as Fultz.

Let’s say, hypothetically, that the C Bags love Duke forward Jayson Tatum. By pairing Tatum with last year’s No. 3 pick, Jaylen Brown, Boston would have two big wings with complementary skill sets. Tatum has go-to scoring ability, while Brown projects as the better defender because of his superior athleticism. There’s a lot to like about that potential pairing.

If Boston has Tatum (or another player) rated as highly as Fultz, a trade with the Kings could make some sense. If Tatum is still around at No. 5, Boston could send Fultz to Sacramento for No. 5, No. 10, and a young veteran like center Willie Cauley-Stein. Boston has been looking for rim protection for years, and Cauley-Stein could provide it.

This would be using the first pick to address multiple needs rather than simply handing the future of the franchise off to Fultz. It might seem like a long shot, but we know Ainge has never been scared to make a deal. This would be his most courageous move yet.

For Sacramento, trading up for Fultz is worth it
I advised the Kings against trading up to No. 3 for De’Aaron Fox earlier this week. The Kings simply have too many holes to deal two top-10 picks for a player who still might be available when their No. 5 selection rolls around.

Fultz is different. If a hypothetical offer of No. 5 + No. 10 + Willie Cauley-Stein is on the table, Sacramento would have to do the trade.

Fultz has all the makings of a superstar guard. He can drain jumpers off the dribble and finish like an acrobat at the rim, and he plays with a rare creativity when the ball is in his hands. I like to compare him to a bigger Kyrie Irving — and that extra size should mean he won’t have the same defensive issues Irving does.

My guess is that Fultz eventually develops into one of the best guards in the NBA. If Boston is thinking about trading out of the first pick, the Kings (or any other franchise) would be wise to make a big offer for the opportunity to draft him.

Ultimately, it seems unlikely Boston would trade the first pick to the Kings
It’s fun to speculate about potential trades like this one, but it still doesn’t really pass the sniff test. Does Boston really need more picks? Probably not. If the C Bags aren’t completely sold on Fultz, dealing the top pick to Chicago for Jimmy Butler or Indiana for Paul George makes more sense.

Kudos to the Kings for getting Fultz in town, though. A year ago, there were reports that players were scared to work out for Sacramento given the dysfunction in the front office. That doesn’t appear to be the case anymore.

Does this workout actually mean anything? Probably not. We just can’t wait for the draft to finally arrive on June 22.

I heard about his conditioning on the radio too but figured folks would shoot it down because it was on Doug Gotlieb's show.

I don't think it was conditioning, it's not like he is overweight or anything. I don't recall seeing him gassed in college games, where the pace they played was as frenetic as it can be.

Now, he may be just overworked, what with some weight training he is doing, season, draft preparations...

I don't think him being tired means much.

If you look behind the smokescreen you can see a Ball.
