Me thinks 99% of the Doom is going to be about Nico tonight.

I don’t think a single Mavs fan wanted to win this game. Lots of love for Luka, lots of hate for Nico. A good majority of
fans say this game gave them closure and this will be the last Mav game they watch.

    Check and check.

I felt bad when Luka was crying.

He would definitely have to be careful in the showers.

The fire Nico chants were LOUD.

And hopefully he will do the same for us.

Your tragic is our magic. Thanks.

I think he’d be depressed even if he was stick figure at this point.

LOTS of AD hate. The fans are not impressed with him overall.

    You forget the beer drinking.

I’m sure it’s been rough at school for them if he has any.

Which Luka circus shot was that?

At least he’s a friendly ghost.

    It’s hard when you’re a beta.

    Brothers need to stick together.

Now just sign that extension and we are golden.

There’s a few I would be interested in.

Is this from Nico burner account?

Looks slimmer in a Laker uniform.

    Now that would be funny.

    Worse than paying Jimmy’s bartender.

Maybe Bron will let him borrow his “check my stats” T-shirt.

    And shoot, he did.

    Yep.

Not everyone can run for lobs like Jaxson Hayes.

AD was pretty meh, that does have to sting. The Mavs have a damn good team and are probably contenders with Kyrie though, so it’s not all doom for them in the end. Still, they traded that guy for a guy who is not that guy, and that sucks, it’s like trading Kobe for Kevin Garnett.

Mavs fan: In these game threads throughout the years, I’ve cracked so many jokes about Luka eating too much after
games. With hookah rhymes and blasting his beer drinking when the Mavs went on a bad spell. Now I’m here,
watching the game drunk, binging on Oreo cookies and nearly done with a pack of smokes I bought before the game
stared. You win Luka. I’m sorry. I miss you teddy bear.

So thinking about this, after really watching Luka play. Nico and the new Mavs ownership are stupid. They got bored watching Luka that they forgot how difficult it is to find a player that can do what he does!! It reminds me of when Chicago wanted to get rid of Jordan, Pippen and the rest of those guys so he could rebuild a world champ and show the world how easy it is!@!!! How did that work for him?? Generational talents are very rare, they are irreplaceable. The ONLY reason you move on from them, is if they ask you to. The thing is, even if a great talent like Luka does not win you a ring, he will sell seats, jerseys and whatever else you can market with his name on it. The Lakers were lucky enough to win one ring with Lebron, (so far), but they have made a ton of money from his association with the team. As far as thinking he may not be worth a supermax, hey you idiots, he is already the best player on the Lakers, even Lebron knows that. They should have paid him the damn money. Nico's life will never be the same. The ONLY chance he has to ever succeed at anything else, ever again, is if some dominant shiithead of an owner hires him as a patsey to treat his players poorly. He screwed up massively. He will ALWAYS be unloved, even hated, in Dallas, and a laughing stock everywhere else.

Thank you, you colossal dumb arses!!!

Has an NBA exec or GM ever had as bad a day as Nico Harrison did, today? I mean...and he hasn't even been fired/forced out/asked to step down!

    (Yet)

I'm sure a packed home crowd of fans has clamored for the demise or head of someone who manages their team. I just can't come up with a competing example.

    Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

Bron: They’re suffering son…. I’ll finish them for ya.
    Update
Luka: No Pa…. They was my team… I’ll shoot.

    And shoot, he did.

they really missed a dumont denouement opportunity here.

yeah, i agreed with the analogy and then realized the age gap was much larger in this case. just baffling stuff without a trade demand from luka.

Anti-Trust laws? Collusion within owners and the commissioner to bring ratings back up after historical lows?

Kids these days have much more than just sports to watch, even back then they had options. But with social media, youtube content creators, live streamers on multiple platform viewership demographics have changed.

Regardless of basketball incompetent Nico is, there is no way he did this trade without some type of back handed deal that benefited him. As I mentioned before I dont think any true GM with basketball roots would ever do this and throw his career down the drain.

No player is going to want to trust a FO with Nico at the helm, Nico is done in the NBA. I'm sure he got compenesated very well though, insane he's still in Dallas. I'd resign for not the safety of myself, but my family. Kind of shows how self centered Nico is, doesnt care about fans let alone his family. Lots of assumptions here but yeah, I definitely wouldnt have my family stay in Dallas if I was him. Insane, somethings bound to go wrong with fans this upset.

While I do blame Nico, I suspect he was doing the bidding of the Dallas owners, after all that is his job. For him to make such a colossal decision without anyone's input, you just cannot do that. Ownership was NOT going to pay Luka and they told him to trade him if they could. He is keeping that information to himself and that should ingratiate ownership to him. I mean, he is completely taking the fall for them. From their point of view, that is super admirable. Some other owners would likely feel the same way about him. But for any players who play anywhere, if you see this guy show up on YOUR team, you will know it is time to go, the sooner the better. And NOBODY will ever want to play in Dallas ever again. Sad for Dallas but ownership just scrood the pooch. You can do your best to trade for players, but your team is not going to be a place where great players want to go.

KG was the only comparable player I could think of, a 2-way player who was great at his peak, but not the superstar who was going to lead you to a title. I didn’t want to compare AD to some lesser big man and disrespect him, because he still is great and a former champion and there aren’t a ton of players like him in NBA history, he’s just not Luka. Also Kobe was better than Luka, and KG fell off quicker than AD as far as scoring goes, so I can’t really say it’s comparable to trading 26 year old Kobe for 32 year old KG. Point is it was bad, dumb, just an awful move for Dallas. :D

i've said from the jump that i thought nico was being motivated by something other than basketball success. and it might be a better paying job outside of basketball. the guy who would pull something like this and take all the heat might be someone some people would want running things for them.

I think when it comes to Dallas and Luka the most simple answer is probably the most true. They didn't want to pay him a Max contract. I agree that Nico is probably doing the bidding of others as he def isn't going to move the teams cash cow without approval.

I honestly don't buy the chatter about him being too fat but I can see the disconnect with them and his training team if those stories are true. That's a fine line to walk with teams and star players. When you have a Kobe/Bron type who the results show for themselves teams are likely to defer to that BUT if you have Bynum (yup drug big boy out of the Lakers cemetery) then I would think the teams wouldn't be so keen.

In the end, Mavs f'd up in trading the prized cow (dude, what's with the cow references? Yes, talking to myself on that one.) for some magic beans (AD and Max).

...other than Jerry Jones, Harrison is the most reviled man in Dallas.

If they can’t make some noise in the playoffs or turn around next year, he’s gonna have a very long year in Dallas. (Nico)
