This has been the biggest issue with the team playing with Kershaw. They dont put up runs on the board
well it wasn't a lead off double. its a double-double or homer. Man the cubs are just bringing it to us.
Yes. Our lack of starters caught up to us, but the real culprit is the bats. The Dodgers lack any sort of urgency at the plate. They have for 3 games in a row now. Kershaw isn't sharp, but his defense has been bad and his bats won't help at all.
its possible but Greinke wanted to leave and then pitched so-so all year. It would of been nice to be able to have another Ace especially with all the damn injuries. Does one pitcher change everything? We are in the NLCS right now. We have shot ourselves in the foot. Kershaw has given up 5 runs to the cubs but we haven't hit the ball. Tonight the Cub pitcher has faced the minimum number of batters. Too much offensive power to have our pitchers having to be perfect
just saw the stat. Toles has the ONLY hit. 6 innings and we are getting complete game pitched in an elimination game
Alright..... It is now or never. Top of our lineup. We need to put up at least 3 runs this inning. Im saying we go on a rally and put up 4..... wishful thinking? I don't care I am going to believe we can pull our heads out of our a**es and do the do
YOU WERE WRONG!!!!! lol. oh well, tip of the cap to the Cubs they are showing why they have 103 wins on the season
alright boys we got a base hit and ran the starting pitcher. whoooo time to get cooking? its only top 8 and 1 out but this is the cubs and they do like to choke a bit. We have also been hitting and scoring on chapman
Funny, Mason was arguing against hiring Madden when he left the Rays. I don't think the Dodgers were positioned to make a move, but I know some fans wanted him. Now he is probably heading to the WS...
I think many people will try and hindsight what the dodgers did or didnt do but the truth is we are/were two wins from the world series. That means we finished as a top 4 team in baseball with all the crap we went through. Maybe we could of made some moves but they don't always work out either (See: Price). I am pissed we didn't get to the WS but I think we just got beat by the better team who made the big plays when it was needed. We didn't get the hits like we were suppose to and we didn't make the plays to stop the bleeding. That being said, I am proud of what this team did this season. Offseason I would like to see another starting pitcher, also see a healthy Hill and Meada too. Good season. Bad ending.
Top 3 since we won one more game than the Blue Jays. Anywho, I'm sad we got eliminated again (who isn't?). We beat a 95-win Nationals, which is something to be very proud of. Just shows you that top-heavy teams usually don't win it all. But man, those 100+ win Cubs are just too good. Too many weapons; almost impossible to beat. Indians don't have the starting pitching depth they need to win the Series, but hopefully for them they can club a few hits off Cubs pitching as they did with Lester.
That said, if there's any piece we need to keep, it's Kenley Jansen. Dude's getting a monster deal, but with his age and reliability (you think we win 4 straight Division Titles without him?), he's my #1 free agent to keep. Turner is the heart and soul of our lineup though, so he's definitely a close second. If we magically get Ryan Braun though, the loss would be mitigated and he may even be an upgrade. A deal for Braun would include at minimum Puig, Jose De Leon, and another elite prospect. Maybe another ML player, too. Toles? Rich Hill I'd throw two years at him, incentive-laden. Yoenis Cespedes would solidify LF forever. I'm remembering last year when I wanted to give all the money in the world to Jayson Heyward, Zack Greinke, and David Price. Turns out all three had sub-par to terrible years. Sometimes you just don't know who will play up to their contract. I just hope that if we lose Turner and/or Jansen, that we can replace them with suitable players, whether it's with other elite players, or shoring up as much of the roster as possible.
Jansen is certainly a top FA need. So is Turner. We desperately need to replace Utley who is completely finished. I'd like a FA, but it's more likely we'll rotate guys like Micah Johnson which is less than ideal. I'd be fine with Cespedes, but I doubt the Dodgers do it. I maintain Greinke would have been better if he stayed in LA. It's hard to stay sharp when you're on such a bad team. His relationship with Kershaw really drove both of them to succeed. We also need to start considering a replacement for Adrian at 1st.
Cody Bellinger is heir to the 1B throne. I think he's a September call-up next season, then plays full time or close to it in 2018. Hopefully Gonzalez doesn't decline too soon.
