You must be a Dodgers fan to keep trolling for no reason. Most of the fans here didn't believe the team would win anyway.

on to the real point of why I came back in. The problem has been before and still is now we don't get timely hits. I feared that it would be hitting that would be the problem and 0-13 (I believe) with RISP after the 1st isn't going to win you games. Mets deserved to win they fought and clawed. Disappointing.

Great series, Mets were pretty fortunate tonight thanks to the brain fart there by the Dodgers allowing Murphy to take third. If it weren't for that I'm not sure they would've pulled it off.

Check the Niners or Giants threads. They give as well as they get it. I can take it. I assume everyone else can too.

^Fair enough. I don't go to those threads personally but good as it gets is well good as it gets.

    1. Eff the Dodgers. I'm happy ownership lost. Spend all that cash while keeping 70% of us in the dark for two years and they STILL can't win? Eff you then. You deserve to lose.

    2. Mattingly (and probably a few others) are gone this summer.

    3. All that money and Friedman can't buy a bullpen or 3rd starter? Okay. Eff you Friedman.

    4. Like @puffyusaf#2 said: can't hit with RISP. Been an Achilles heel for the last million years.

    5. GET A MOTHERF****** 3rd starter this summer.

    6. Where'd all that depth go? We went into the Playoffs with supposedly the most veteran depth. Where was that? We're starting Puig for some reason even though he's been hurt for over a month, Kike isn't playing Center Field well defensively but we'll play him anyway, Seager is a 21 year old kid who has had a lot of bad at bats but let's keep relying on him...

    7. Keep Justin Turner. The guy has been an absolute stud. My favorite player right now.

Report: Zack Greinke to opt out of contract with Dodgers

Zack Greinke will opt out of his contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers and test free agency, according to a report by CBSSports.com.

There had been widespread speculation that Greinke would opt out of the contract despite having three years and $71 million remaining on the six-year deal he signed with the Dodgers before the 2013 season.

Citing multiple sources in its report, CBSSports.com reported that Greinke should receive multiple contract offers of at least $125 million over five years, according to one general manager.

Greinke, who turns 32 on Wednesday, is coming off the best season of his 12-year career and figures to be a contender for the National League Cy Young Award. The three-time All-Star went 19-3 with a major league-leading 1.66 ERA this season.

Greinke emphasized that he was "not even thinking" about his future with the Dodgers after Thursday's season-ending loss to the
New York Mets in Game 5 of the NLDS.

"It would be nice to be back [with the Dodgers]," Greinke said after pitching 6 ⅔ innings in Los Angeles' 3-2 loss. "I'm not even thinking about it. It's more about today, I guess. Maybe after I get home."

I really hope we don't lose Greinke! I didn't get to watch much Dodgers baseball this season but I still follow it as best as I can. We can't lose him. He had a truly remarkable season. Him and Kershaw together is a formidable duo!

He's not going anywhere, they just have to agree on a reasonable contract extension for him that's all.

There was never really an extension offered apparently and the two of them parted ways mutually.

The FO wanted more say in lineups, Mattingly isn't a sabermetrics guy, and the Dodgers management is full of themselves thus far.

I think it was the right move and I would have replaced him last summer. Don is terrible with in-game decision making, but a great leader. He's the Byron Scott of MLB managers.

Dodgers have hired Dave Roberts as manager. Thoughts?

Pretty surprising. I thought Kapler had the job sewed up, but I'm open to anything. Roberts has been around and he'll be a mouthpiece for the FO.

I'm more worried about keeping Greinke.

I think the most we'll offer Greinke is 6 years $180 million. If he gets anything more from someone else, or a deferred contract a la Scherzer, then we can kiss him goodbye.

It doesn't because that's only twice the league average vs when the Yankees used to quadruple the league average.

    Hehe, try again. ;)

    1. We actually cut a lot of bad contracts from the last regime. It would have been a lot worse with the old regime throwing more and more money at guys like Brian Wilson.

    2. Yup!

    3. Our top 7 relievers are far superior than the previous year's top 7. Look at the numbers.

    4. Unfortunately there's no consistency with RISP. Not one player in history was ever consistently good at it, and there's practically no way to scout guys who would be consistently good at it.

    5. We didn't know both Ryu and McCarthy would get hurt at the same time, and Brett Anderson pitched a 3.69 ERA which is not bad for a #5/#6 starter. Alex Wood is actually a pretty good talent we managed to swipe before deadline.

    6. I won't get into detail but Seager was on fire and hitting way better than Jimmy Rollins. Kike was also hitting better than Joc Pederson. Puig, heh, always the question mark.

    7. Yes. He is too good. We got rid of our international prize signing 3B man Hector Olivera to give Turner all the playing time he can play.

You're sounding like an apologist! :D

    1. You miss the point: most of LA still can't watch Dodger games and they're not even giving us the competitiveness we deserve. Rebooting the farm while remaining competitive is impressive, but it doesn't matter to me if a) we're not making it as far as we should and b) we can't watch it. Mostly the second point. I'm always going to want the Dodgers to do well, but I can't get behind this management right now when the vast, vast majority of LA is still in the dark. Unacceptable. It took the Yankees two years to figure theirs out and we're now approaching year three. Un-f***ing-acceptable.

    2. Called it!

    3. The Lakers roster is better this year than last too.

    4. I understand that, but it's still frustrating. It's been a problem for so long it's beginning to not faze me, but it's infuriating when we're giving up runs and we have guys on 2nd and 3rd consistently. I'd love to know how many guys we left on base in just the post-season.

    5. Ryu was hurt in Spring Training and McCarthy not long after that. We had plenty of time to go find a true #3 starter. Wood is alright and Anderson pitched well, but they're not #3 starters right now and certainly weren't for the playoff run.

    6. I know Seager was hitting well. My point was relying on a kid to save the season isn't ideal. Pederson's at bats looked like a bad T-Baller.

    7. Didn't we also get back a 3rd baseman? Or have one in the minors? I thought we had a guy we could put there even after we got rid of Olivera.
