Can't see the light at the end right now. Losing Max and now JT hurts big time.

Still some outs left but that has to be deflating in the dugout

1 year later and 3-1 down yet again vs ATL.

This time, there's a lot of hurdles to overcome, with JT now out. The starters are gassed, the bullpen is being stretched out. They definitely are feeling the effects of trying to chase down SF and playing that 5 games series where the starters got less than ideal rest. Bauer, Duffy, and Hamels not panning out hurt the depth of the rotation.

That bullpen mismanagement of bringing in Urias in game 2 haunted them today in Game 4. At least we hopefully don't see Gonsolin pitch tomorrow, he got blown up again today. I think Price might've been better than him and at least bring another lefty option.

The offense simply needs to hit better and score runs. The talent is there to win. IF, and that's a big IF (considering it's a bullpen in Game 5), they win, it could get interesting as it would be Max and buehler pitching in ATL.

    This.

When Scherzer pitched a relief inning in G5 vs Giants, he was tired and pitched a poor G2 in this series and needed another day of rest.

Roberts & Friedman doubled down on their error by bringing in Urias in that G2, and I said then, that we might see the same problem in G4 with Urias being tired. They like to claim that since it was his bullpen day, it was okay to use him there, but the results clearly show otherwise, in multiple cases now.

Even after that mistake, they could have fixed it (somewhat) by giving him another day of rest and starting Urias G5. That matches up bullpen vs bullpen and starter vs starter, and gives the team a better chance of winning both games. Now they lose G4, and have to pitch the bullpen against Fried in an elimination game. Smh.

Scott Boras, the agent for Urías, is not shy about letting a team know when he is upset about how a team is treating a star client.

“If you’re asking me,” Boras said Tuesday, “I’m not upset with anything that lowers the amount of innings that Julio pitches."

“The player will never say no. You’re in a locker room. You’re trying to win. You want to be a good teammate. The pressure of that is far too great.”

“I don’t think anybody in my position, who represents a starting pitcher, wants them pitching in relief. It’s a routine interruption, and routine interruptions scare you. Now we’ve seen in postseasons that teams do this. The players are always wanting to do it, because they want to win.”

“I never fault a player for wanting to win. I know it enhances the risk.”

Translation: STOP making starting pitchers throw relief innings!!!

(Except elimination G5/G7's, which are obv diff than other games)

Especially considering we had a perfect combo that worked all season: Treinen in the 8th and Jansen in the 9th.

Is Roberts gone? Hard to believe that his choices will not come into question during the offseason. ??? When you have this high of a payroll, you don't expect to lose this easily. They could have least made it a series.

Highly doubt it. These are Friedman decisions as much as Roberts.

It's still a series though. If they can somehow pull out a win tonight, Scherzer and Buehler will finally both be on full rest for G6 & G7, and they have a chance at winning both. It's a longshot, but as we know, it worked last year, so fingers crossed that they can do it again.

    ^ :giggle:

Great game, contributions from everyone, 17 hits! Dat Pollock/Pujols/Taylor combo...9 hits, 8 runs, 10 RBI...filthy.

6 different players with runs, 7 players with hits, and every non-pitcher got on base! What a game!

    Let's repeat last year!

Dodgers are going to have to make an epic run here. Win two to get to the series and then they have to fight off a similar offense in either the Astros or Red Sox. If the Dodgers win the next two, the Dodgers will have all 3 of their starters back on normal rotations in the next series.

Dodgers have a bad habit of scoring 50 runs one game and the next game, 2 runs. Unless Scherzer goes God mode thru 8 and Kenley closes, 2 runs wont likely be enough. They have to drop 6 or 7 runs in each game for the next 2.
