Looking less likely the team is going to sign Harper. Phillies and Nationals look like they're the front runners at this point.

Meanwhile...an old friend is coming back:

    An old friend goes south:

I'm sure real would be very mad that we didn't re-sign him.

It's been a very underwhelming off-season for the Dodgers this year. Shades of that year where they signed Brandon McCarthy, Scott Kazmir instead of Greinke.

I wonder if this is shades of Kobe's 2 years 48 million dollar contract he signed with us at the end of his career.

We got a ton of depth in terms of starting pitchers, so I'm not concerned. Buelher, Hill, Ryu, Maeda, and Urias can do the job.

Christ, hurt again. When have the Doyers ever NOT have someone on the DL?

He may rethink his Lakers fandom though with LeDouche here now. Could work against the Dodgers ....

    Philly gave Harp $330M/13 years.

That's just ridiculous for a "slugger". He's not even that prolific of a hitter or outfielder. Baseball has to be the funniest player model I've seen, no wonder so many people like playing it.

I agree, the length of the contract w/ no opt outs is crazy. If he flops 2-3 years into it, they're stuck paying that money forever.

Very disappointing to see the Dodgers come up empty handed on Machado, Harper, and Arenado.

I'm not disappointed to go after those overpaid players. Machado may have been worth it, but his work ethic was so questionable last season despite his great numbers and awesome infield play. He just seemed a little "off".

Getting Seager back will definitely ease that pain for us, cause kid's definitely a star, when healthy, that has a ceiling like Machado.

The one thing I haven't seen the Dodger's focus on is relief pitching. Every year I stress this and every year we struggle with it. Kershaw can only go 4-5 innings nowadays, it's Buehler who's our new ace now. But we need to support them with a strong pen, not necessarily deep, but every year we've been killed by relief pitchers and horrible relief of our own. Spend the money there.

Well, they at least put significant money on a reliever this year. Joe Kelly has the talent and ability to be a great set up man. Will be nice to see some one dishing out 100+ MPH fastballs against opponents now.

Who would've thought the Lakers would've flopped badly this year? :Fishwink:

But yeah, it's unlikely that Harper would be bad early into this contract. He hasn't been consistent in his career as well, with one incredible season in 2015.

Back to the Dodgers, and look who's throwing fire now:
