"Plus, Dirk is a better shooter. Just the closest comparison on style I could come up with."

    Jus sayin'

Dirk, easily one of the top3 euro players in history. We should put all these comparisons to rest.

Aren't we also comparing Simmons and Ingram to LeBron and Durant? :D :D

I think all three comparisons are tough for each kid.

Well, yeah, we are :D. But it's easier for me to believe in Ingram or Simmons, than put my faith in another soft euro ;).

"poor man's" comes before those. and at least one could argue that there's some play-alike there. bender doesn't look to play like dirk at all.

True but the point is we put ridiculous expectations on these kids. If Simmons isn't LeBron he's a disappointment. If Ingram isn't Durant he's a disappointment. And certainly if people are throwing names like Dirk around, Bender is set up for failure as well.

Don't forget D'Angelo Russell and Steph Curry.

Forget Steph, D'Angelo was said to have Magic Johnson-like vision! As a kid going to the LAKERS that's some damn tough company.

Mychal Thompson was crucified by some because he suggested D'Angelo reminded him of Mike Conley who is a damn good point guard. I think he can be a better version of Conley, but that is a pretty nice floor to have for someone like Russell.

    I crucified him because I think it's a bad comparison. :D

Conley is a defensive guy who is a solid offensive player. I think within a couple seasons D'Angelo will be better than Conley offensively. He's just a more talented offensive player.

again, beyond the HOF stuff, i'm asking that we try to find players who play that way in terms of comparisons. simmons plays like lebron (or lamar, who played like lebron before lebron), but worse. ingram plays like durant, but worse. bender doesn't play like dirk. he just happens to be tall, white, and foreign. taller boris diaw seems more appropriate from what i've seen.

I don't think Mychal was necessarily comparing their skill sets because as you said they're different. I think he was more talking about the kind of level he expected Russell to be which was a very good All Star caliber point guard just not a superstar.

That'd be nice. I think Russell can reach that level, he's got that kind of talent. He can join that group of guards rotating in the Western Conference All-Star game. It's a deep position on this side of the Mississippi so actual appearances are hard to come by for guards. Obviously he's very far from that level, but it's within his reach I think.

    Ok I'm ready.

    I predict the following

    Horford Hibbert Rookie
    Randle Vet min Kelley
Ingram some old guy or Metta, Young
    Russell Williams
    Conley JC Vet min

    Hibbert, Kelly, Young, and Lou?

You're worse at this than me. Why no Sacre?

Oops. I meant to put Sacre. We need our cheerleader there.

My plan is to have continuity. Just add a few great pieces like Ingram Conley and Horford.

    My dream scenario

    sign Durant
    sign Conley
    draft Ingram
draft a backup center at 32
Trade Ingram and Clarkson for Cousins
Sign some bench players on the cheap

    Cousins/ ... / #32 pick
    Randle / Nance /...
    Durant / ... / Brown
    Russell / Lou / ...
    Conley / ... / Huertas

But that starting lineup would be amazing. But of course, it won't happen.
