Michael Malone has reached agreement on a four-year deal to become coach of the Denver Nuggets, league sources told Yahoo Sports. The fourth year of the deal is a team option, sources said. Malone made the strongest impression with general manager Tim Connelly and president Josh Kroenke in meetings with Denver’s management and overtook interim coach Melvin Hunt to win the job, sources said. The Nuggets were 30-52 in 2014-15, which included the March firing of coach Bryan Shaw. Despite Sacramento’s stunning decision to fire Malone as its coach early in the 2014-15 season – his second year on the job – the work Malone had done to create more professionalism and focus with star center DeMarcus Cousins had earned him praise and respect around the NBA. With Cousins hospitalized because of an illness, the Kings fired Malone after an 11-13 start. In two years on the job, Malone was 39-67 after taking over a full-blown rebuilding project. Malone had been an NBA assistant coach with Golden State (2011-13), New Orleans (2010-11), Cleveland (2005-10) and New York (2001-05). http://sports.yahoo.com/news/source...hes-agreement-to-coach-nuggets-174036769.html
He is PRECISELY what that franchise needs. No nonsense, hard nosed, high expectations from his players. He's going to try to whip those jerks into shape and I hope he does. They deserve a lot of butt kickings.
Yep, great fit. Little surprised though, I figured MDA would get the gig. I would've loved to see him flame out and lose the respect from another team. With the disrespectful lot of bums in Denver that would've taken less than a month. I expect Malone to keep them on a short leash and he'll get respect or some guys might be packing their bags.
Weird to me because wasn't it the old Kings GM who is now the President (or in the front office) of the Denver Nuggets who fired Malone when he was the head coach of the Kings..... Let bygones by bygones I guess
Depends on how many of those ingrates will still be there come opening night or by the trade deadline...
he was forced by the owner to fire him Malone being signed by the same guy on another team just confirms that imo
How serious are they about winning? Do you hate losing? Might not be any hold overs if that's his criteria
