because he's a known malcontent who declared his intention to start right off the bat and used his impending free agency as leverage to play an ill-fitting role.

honestly, if he had torn it up as a 6th man here, he'd be in line for a much bigger payday than what's coming.

Seems he wasn't the only one who wasn't happy. We weren't happy with his play, either.

Dennis is going to regret turning down that contract. He isn't a Klutch client like KCP who can get paid using Lebron Leverage.

I feel we went over and above to appease Dennis and make him happy. I don’t feel like he returned the favor.

it's who he's been his whole career, i think. honestly, danny green had to go, and schroder was actually a great haul for danny given how meh/bad he was last year. it was worth a shot. now he's got to go. maybe we'll package our pick this year for another attempted upgrade!

Defensively, I won't knock him. Schroder has the energy to play full court defense. Offensively, it's either attack the rim or settle for a mid-range. He doesn't get others involved and can get out of control handling the ball. Not a good passer, not a good decision-maker, and is better suited coming off the bench. Unfortunately, Lakers have very little cap space to work with outside of MLE and vet minimums. It might be a situation where they have to settle for Schroder and who knows, maybe Schroder plays well and becomes a decent trade piece. Either way, he's been a disappointment.

I'm with everyone else. Not a fan of him on and off the court. A no-show when we need him most. The covid BS he pulled in May was the final nail in the coffin. I don't want him back at any price. Not even for the MLE.

The mistake was to keep using him as a starter next to Bron and AD .

Not pairing him with Trez off the bench is one of the biggest WTF decisions I've ever witnessed

DS could have used of one of those 130db office specials if Magic was still around.

True. With the season going bad, I can't understand why haven't we tried it

I think we all mostly want him gone, but after Rob's comments & Dennis' comments post-game against Phoenix, it has me thinking:

If there's no big offers for him out there, and we still need a PG, do the Lakers and him come back to the table and negotiate a deal?

    Idk. Just thinking out loud.

I want Dennis gone, but I think we’d likely be better off keeping him on a reasonable, short term deal if we can. I’d rather have guys on very tradeable contracts than letting them go for nothing.

I think he will probably stay. The market for PG is very thin and prob he will resign for 2y or something like that.
I sincerely hope not, don't want him at all

I think he was promised the starting position for coming here by the front office and there was nothing Vogel could do about it.

Same thing he said when he got here, just wants the money to be “fair” and then didn’t think 84M was fair, plus the crap that happened and changed his game south after not taking protecting himself seriously enough and being unavailable to play for long period and NOT the same player when he came back. His agent has him in damage control. Not impressed.
