    LA has enough DJ's SMH

Shrewd value from Rob. Paying bottom dollar for much more value. Never a bad thing, and we needed another big body. Makes me think rumors of Gasol not coming back might have some legs.

We added a center who showed he can start in the regular season and give you 20 minutes a night. To find that at this point in the off session is rare. I think we wanted to try to recreate the McGee/Dwight dynamic with these two. Lobs, rebounds, and blocks.

The biggest question is whether Marc is coming back? If he is, we have amazing depth at the position for the regular season until AD takes over in the playoffs. Jordan is a great get as the 3rd C. If not, we have a veteran C who can start and give you 20 minutes. If you get 20 out of him, 18 out of Dwight, then AD covers the rest. Definitely the less appealing of the two scenarios but manageable.

This is different from Drumm because Jordan isn't thinking he's coming here to audition for a big contract next year and there's not Trezz who you have to find minutes because he was 6th man of the year.

It’s weird, but even during Flop City, I never had a problem with DeAndre. I’m cool with this signing.

I know of only one person so far who’s gonna hate this signing: my Clip fan buddy. He s*** when we signed Russ. Waiting for his reaction on Jordan.

    :Kobe Snickering:

But he can’t be pissed if his boy gets a ring in LA, right? RIGHT?

Yeah I don't hate this at all, especially since I think as sirron said above it may very well be that Marc is not coming back, and no idea whose decision that is if that's the case. If he is gone I wouldn't be surprised if we start Dwight over him. LOL no wonder he's been shooting 3s. His motion didn't look horrible 2 seasons ago at the end, and Gasol learned to shoot them late in his career. I know I know .... just say NO to Dwight shooting 3s. LOL.

Now that it's been moved from the free agency/rumors thread to here, I'll say it again:

    Wow, didn't see that coming.

Hopefully he can wash that Flop City stench off of himself. If Rondo can wash the ****** stench off of himself, Deandre should be able to do the same with the sweaty Ballmer stench.

Does he still suck at free throws?

Don’t like it. He can’t shoot, and he no longer plays defense. He shot 50% from the free throw line last season as well. So he’s a liability on defense, and essentially useless on offense unless he’s getting lobs or cleanups. This is the one signing this off-season I’m not a fan of. We either have to be starting Marc or AD at center, or our spacing will be garbage. As Dwight insurance in case of injury, you could do worse, but anything other than that it’s a bad move. I’ve seen him compared to McGee, but I disagree, McGee could hit free throws and a 15-18 foot jumper.

I am still a proponent of AD starting at the 5. It would make things a lot easier for us in terms of rotation. Bron could finally play the 4, as he should, and it gives more opportunities to THT, Ariza and Bazemore to actually get meaningful minutes. But that might be just me, I don't know.

We have a lot of players that can dunk. That should make people happy.

I want AD starting at the 5 with either Dwight or DJ first off the bench at the 5.

Regarding the assumption that DJ is done: he's not. He didn't just suddenly lose all his athleticism at age 32.

Regarding the idea that he doesn't or can't play any D: he's a player that follows team culture, not create it. The greats create culture, but most players follow it. The team culture in Brooklyn was not exactly defensive oriented. Vogel will get DJ tuned up on D. We are only going to need maybe 16 minutes a night from him. He will rebound and protect the rim for that many minutes. Plus Dwight will have a good influence on him.

Regarding the FT shooting: yeah he sux there. Oh well.

What I am looking forward to is all three of our 5s (AD, Dwight, DJ) catching lobs from Russ, LeBron and Rondo.
