i'm going to refrain from a full response for my own mental health...but f*** all that b*******. the lakers made a fantastic move, and the league was worried about "optics" (before that was the term). it's unbelievable to me, even now. stern killed the lakers brand. in one second. essentially by cheating. i think even his decrepit, morally handicapped a** can see it now. so he constructs several alternative realities in which he's not stupid and useless, none of which he believes...because they're not true.

i award him no points, and i'm not particularly concerned if god has mercy on his soul.

:This: Yep that is what was said happened. It was like too quick almost immediately from when the anti Lakers new CBA was finally hammered into a deal. 2 -3 days or (?) later maybe a different outcome. I was never clear if Jeanie herself who was there was aware of that timing / blowback issue and just couldn't get Mitch and Jim to buy in to sit on it a bit till things died down or if even she didn't realize it?

I'd have a TON of respect for Mitch about now if he chose to come out and throw Stern under the bus, and then back it up and pull it forward a few times.

I think Stern is saying this nonsense because he knows Mitch won't respond.

Stern screwed us. Nothing he says will change that in my view.

that deal was amazing for the hornets. they would have received lamar, scola, kevin martin, dragic AND a 1st rounder in '12 while houston would have received pau

    BUT

it would have made them a decent team which is the exact opposite of stern wanted

really does make me sad knowing kobe probably would have retired with another title if this trade went through instead of ending his career on 20 win teams. hell, he'd probably still be playing. i don't think any of us imagined the hell this franchise would be going through mostly due to this trade being vetoed

^It really wasn't about New Orleans or Houston but more so Cleveland AND Dallas throwing fits.

i think it was all about new orleans

as i mentioned earlier, stern had to make the franchise attractive to potential buyers. what's more attractive? a .500 team that loses in the first round of the playoffs every year? or a team with the #1 overall pick ready to draft a future star and face of the franchise to build the team around for years to come?

that's why stern took the lesser deal. sure, cuban and gilbert whining like babies had something to do with it too but this was about stern making sure the hornets sold at top dollar

How cowardly of Stern to come out now with this. Total BS, and we were setback years because of it.

other than us losing to detroit and boston in the finals, nothing lakers related hurts/angers me more than this veto

ps- honorable mention goes to kobes "i'll go play on pluto" tirade...really thought the lakers had lost him at that point

it's one thing to secure a #1 overall pick through stern's dirty work

it's another to actually build around that #1 pick successfully. something the pelicans have not done. but at least for them, davis has turned out to become one of the best players in the league

It's simple.. NBA wanted a partner in crime for Griffin , AND NBA knew LA was big enough to create a huge market for the Clippers that can bring in and make $, all while the Laker $ train will always keep flowing.

His explanation sucked balls....didnt it take like another 2-3 weeks before we traded odom after the veto? If the simple solution was just hou adding lowry instead of dragic, it shouldve happened a few days after the veto. After seeing what odom looked like emotionally i dont blame mitch for moving odom for whatever he could
