eh, we needed to care about beating memphis. and i watched much of that game--we didn't. green would have helped, but it was just a full coast-job by the team. interested to see how they approach NO in light of the no-show.

I think Green is very important for our spacing though - he's always a threat and teams have to respect that. LeBron and AD benefit a ton from Green on the floor, and he's always getting deflections on defense whenever I see him play...he does the little things. Is he worth 15M? Probably not but think of it this way...we overpaid for Green but underpaid for KCP, Dwight, and Caruso. And like abeer said...he's still going to have value to other teams cuz of his shooting and he has a nice big expiring K next year so he'll be used in a trade if it comes to that...Oladipo or Derozan anybody?

I've been so proud of his focus since he has come to the Lakers, and it has shown in his play.

I would find this more funny if he actually focused more on his play than going Hollywood this year.

The way I see it is we've had a very below average Danny Green for the season thus far. But this guy is bound to get hot during the playoffs eventually, right? Below average Danny Green = 2nd best NBA record. If Danny Green catches fire in the playoffs, we are unbeatable. He's one of the most experienced role players in the league so at least we know we are getting someone who knows how to prepare himself.

I don't know if I would expect that out of him. He had some moments in the playoffs for Toronto for sure but he did not catch fire by any means playing very similar minutes.

DG Toronto 2018-2019 regular season stats:

    G MP FG FGA FG% 3P 3PA 3P% 2P 2PA 2P% TRB AST STL BLK PTS

    80 27.7 3.7 7.9 .465 2.5 5.4 .455 1.2 2.4 .487 4.0 1.6 0.9 0.7 10.3

    2018-2019 Toronto playoffs

    G MP FG FGA FG% 3P 3PA 3P% 2P 2PA 2P% TRB AST STL BLK PTS

    24 28.5 2.2 6.5 .342 1.6 5.0 .328 0.6 1.5 .389 3.6 1.1 1.3 0.5 6.9

He has played defense a bit better for us imo. Overall I liked the pickup and I think he was getting grooved in to the LBJ way and was going to get better.

I'm indifferent on him. When he makes a corner three, I feel more like "FINALLY" than any other sort of reaction or feeling. Very undewhelmed with Green, and feel like he's more concerned with off court endeavors than his on court results. I expected more if I'm being honest. At that price, I feel like I felt about KCP for the last couple of years. Not worth the price of admission.

KCP for $8 million is right around what he would be worth. He's great on defense particularly when it comes to staying in front of his opponent and denying them the ball. The guy is also always healthy and ready. I love him.

that's this year, not the last 2 years when he was crucified by fans

    pay always affects expectations

I don't feel Danny Green has been worth what he's been paid so far.

Well, there was a deal with Dallas waiting for him, and my guess was the Lakers were offering him more money than Dallas, so he decided to wait to see what Kawhi was going to do last July.

Remember, the sequence of events? As soon as the Clippers signed Kawhi, we signed Danny; he was our contingency plan; and he was one of the last quality remaining FAs that were available at the time.

So, was he incentivized to wait for Kawhi? I think so and to the tune of $15 million per season.

Is he getting overpaid? Maybe. But I don't think this season has been an outlier for him nor do I think anybody is suggesting that here; he's done what we thought he could do; space the floor and play D. That's what he's done most of his career.

Just his mere presence on the floor helps tremendously with the attention he garners from the opposition because of his shooting ability.

He's an expiring as well. Idk how the off-season will work, but I think he has some value if we decided to package him.

Hope you're doing well by the way.

Last two years, we had no shot of legitimately competing anyways. I don't really count that. I mean, what would we have done with the money elsewhere? Give Mosgov a $20 million dollar contract? At least with KCP, a relationship with Rich Paul developed.

Weaker game from him both on offense and defense but the Lakers look like they have enough bodies to ride out the games when he's off
