Maybe it helps keeping Beasley too (at list pick his option to have that salary slot)

He said it himself in his exit int-players with his time in the League are pretty much who they are going to be. He’s not going to suddenly turn into a good defender. Now, maybe if he comes back and Ham benches him for not giving enough effort on that end, he will. I’ve seen it over and over again. So many guys come into this League either not knowing, or not caring about how to play good defense. Some learn, others don’t for many different reasons. Some, like we recently saw with Rui, need a fire lit in order to learn and/or give the proper effort. There’s no excuse for a young player at this level to not be a League Average defender.
Also, we have one of the best developmental coaches in the NBA in Handy. Spend the extra time after practice and get better.

This is fair but also mean the Lakers if they go with DLo really have to strength their other positions as DLo maybe a big plus isln some but not all series.

i definitely agree that people are weighting the denver series too heavily, which is why i say i'd do 4/100, no questions asked. but you can't ignore that the denver series is part of a larger pattern of him sort of wetting the bed at each successive step in the playoffs. i'm sure lebron is like: "so it's the finals when he turns into an 8th grade girls player next time? i'm out".

but lebron isn't the franchise, and i think russell's worth a pretty decent chunk of change.

I like recency bias unless it’s used against me. Then it’s totally unfair.

He wasn’t just bad Vs Denver, he had a couple awful games Vs GS and at least one terrible one Vs Minny. You absolutely have to re-sign him if possible, even if only to trade later and not lose an asset for nothing, but yeah he has a career long thing of vanishing in playoff games. Not just being bad, absolutely vanishing.

Yeah, the whole “recency bias” angle is moot when there has already been an established pattern of coming up short when it counts the most. He will get re signed and possibly moved later in the year.

What does that mean …. what he and his agent ask for? Almost seems more accurate to say his price point will be determined by the market, and what Lakers offer first. Then they have a decision to make to not be “Schrodered”?

I think he's going to get Schrodered this offseason. I doubt any team with cap space is going to be bothered to sign him. I like that 2 years 40-45 million deal that guy mentioned on the previous page.

Is this actually worth posting? It’s a statement that says nothing.

stein's pretty plugged in, so him saying nothing might mean that people really know nothing at this point.

I think it does say something. The fact that we're 1 month from free agency and a top 11 FA and 3rd or 4th best PG available has such an unknown market is significant. Is it $18m? Is it $22m? Is it $26m? Their ask is going to determine whether the phone lights up or whether they're simply waiting on us to call after we take care of Austin and Rui.

Interesting looking thru this: Dlo and Rozier are the WTF? these guys are in the 20 million plus range?

Derrick White is making 17.5 a year. Would any finals contender want him or Dlo: I think hands down they would go with White.
I think @Bryant is right there is a very strong chance that DLo gets Schrodered after that awful Nuggets series and Lakers should take a real hard look at the market here. A Derrick White deal for Dlo is a generous offer from LA for him. (4 year 70 million; average 17.5)

I would love Derrick White over DLo, but this is the C Bags- they aren’t trading with us.

No one would be trading White for D.Lo: his contract is the more interesting thing. 17.5 for 4 years! D. Lo should be happy to get that based on the market for PGs

i think his current salary is an overpay, but i'm not sure dlo isn't a 20+ million player, looking at that list. again, his regular season stats look like jamal murray's (right down to the bad defense!). his postseason struggles are really the only reason we're discussing a deal lower than his current price, imo. you chose derrick white as the comp, but why not another C bag: malcolm brogdon? he makes 22.5 per. don't see how dlo isn't worth that.

white signed that deal before he broke out, and his breakout was really just this year. if you look at his career stats, this year was a blip (particularly long-range shooting).

paying white 17.5 in 2021 would be like playing dlo 28 this year, imo.
