Chris Bosh would be wise to go ring chasing on low deals IMO.

My gut was just telling me if someone like Kawhi is on George, we're gonna rely on Jimmy to carry the load? I honestly think Ingram has a higher ceiling and would rather put George at SG and leave Ingram at SF.

Just the way the league has been going, I'm really starting to see Ingram as a 4.

Sure he doesn't put the power in power forward, but I think he can certainly hold his own after a few years of training.

He has the length to guard 2-3-4's, he has the size to score on 2-3's, and the speed and handles to get around 4's.

He's a decent rebounder with his length, a little training with boxing out and strength will be get where he needs to be in that department.

I know it's a moot point especially now that we're projected to getting a PG... But I wonder how he'd fare as a full time PG. just think he'd kill people with his length and if he gets his shot down he'd be unstoppable.

We experimented with Ingram running point for a few games while Russ was out and he was decent.

But it wasn't like we played him at the 1, but more as a point forward.

But Luke was definitely trying to find ways to get BI involved because he was a bit passive to start the season. But I think he definitely found his role towards the end as a slasher and isolation player once he figured out he could blow by his opponents and dunk on them.

Once he gets his shot down, he'll definitely be a force. I definitely agree with Magic that Ingram is the one our player with the most upside.

Yeah before I threw in the towel for the season I remember Luke was having Ingram bring the ball up etc. wasn't watching at end of the season but I heard he was progressing nicely. My point is, do we need a true PG in this system and if someone like Ingram or others at times are bringing the ball up.

Having multiple players who can initiate the offense is never a bad thing. But yes, we still need a true PG.

When you look at the makeup of this team, there really isn't a floor leader just yet who comfortably runs the offense.

To D'Angelo, he was good at it, but he wasn't comfortable with it. I think it put too much pressure on other aspects of his game. Isolation, around a pick and roll, and off the ball are where Russ excels, but decision making is not one of them as we saw with his high turnover rate. But, it's good to know that he has the ability.

Ingram towards the end of the season we saw was getting to the rim at will. His long frame is difficult to defend and his ball handling ability makes him versatile. While he does make good decisions, he tends to over think because it's not his primary role.

Which is why I really think Ball is the fit we need here. His first thought is pass, he's decisive and accurate with it. He knows his role is to run the offense. I also like how Ball pushes the pace and it's contagious. We get a little bit of that from Randle when he's engaged, but we all know Julius isn't always motivated. I can imagine Ball grabbing a board, pushing it up the floor, and having the options of Russell getting to a spot outside, Ingram slashing to the rim, or Randle beating his man down the court with his versatility.

    1. don't think any modern nba team needs a "true pg".
    2. ingram's a 3, imo. and to continue the modern nba riff: i think the full-time stretch-4 is a myth. dude still has to board and block shots and stuff. dirk nowitzki's not the new normal--he's a unicorn. almost all teams still play a pf who can bruise a bit or is at least quite large. and most teams still like to be bigger at all positions (as opposed to smaller). use ingram's size advantage at 3 and russell's size advantage at pg...and win. people talk about gs, but only draymond is undersized. everybody else is big for their spot, including curry (who's as "not a pg" as russell).

    annnnd....now that rant's over.

True you don't need a "true" PG but at the end of the day you need a floor leader. It just so happens Ball is that and he is a pg

I mean Ball is 6'6" so if you want he can guard SGs. He and D'Angelo would be interchangeable at the guard spot depending on match-ups. That's a pretty easy fix.

I wouldn't put Ingram as a full time four anyway. I'd use him there when we wanted to speed teams up and run with him at the 4, Ball, Russell, Randle, and maybe one other guy we don't know yet. Clarkson for now? Maybe if Nance Jr. becomes more of a dribble/shooting threat we don't have to go to Ingram at the 4. I think the concept is also predicated on getting another wing in here like George.

Yeah that would be fine. There's no wrench if we have an All-Star. I'll take the All-Star and figure everything else out.

Yeah I got greedy and was against Butler at first. But then after thinking about it if he and George would be on the team we'd have great defenders to contain the opposing team to give us chances to hang with anyone. Defense does win championships most of the time..even if it's to keep up with high powered offenses.

I liked your post and then, for the first time in my adult life, felt the urge to add "no homo".

I wonder who is thicker and more solid now, in the top part...

With Ball at the point, does D'Angelo become a 20 point a game scorer?
