He didn't put enough grit on those passes his teammates couldn't catch so he had to sit.

Get some splinters DAR, that will teach you not to make great passes your teammates have no idea are coming.

It's not his fault his teammates can't catch a pass. I saw one pass that was honestly Russell's fault and that was him leading JC way too much. We were starting to get blown out with Lou and Huertas, two timeouts later and Lou is still out there after making several mistakes in a row yet no Russ out there.

It just sucks watching other draft picks get playing/development time out there while we are stuck with a clown trying to save his job.

He looked pretty dejected during his interview with Mike Trudell.

Okafor must be thinking: "And I wanted to go there? Caught a break this time."

If he's doing something wrong, which he isn't, it's the coaches job to tell him what it is, so he can fix it. Great job of losing our #2 pick mentally after 7 games, "coach".

This is beginning to be just sad. DAR being hammered as a bust compared to other rookies who are just blossoming.

There's bad coaching and then there's this. It's like he's trying sabotage Russ on purpose or something.

DAR is currently 5th in scoring for rookies and 10th in minutes played. Not as bad as it could be.

Points Per Game Leaders - Qualified Rookies
    RK PLAYER TEAM GP MPG PTS FGM-FGA FG% 3PM-3PA 3P% FTM-FTA FT%
    1 Jahlil Okafor, C PHI 7 33.9 19.9 8.3-16.9 .492 0.0-0.0 .000 3.3-5.3 .622
    2 Karl-Anthony Towns, C MIN 6 28.8 15.5 6.3-12.7 .500 0.2-0.5 .333 2.7-3.0 .889
    3 Emmanuel Mudiay, PG DEN 7 30.1 12.7 4.4-13.4 .330 1.4-3.9 .370 2.4-3.7 .654
    4 Kristaps Porzingis, PF NY 7 24.3 12.3 4.3-10.9 .395 0.7-3.1 .227 3.0-3.7 .808
    5 D'Angelo Russell, PG LAL 6 24.7 9.3 3.8-9.5 .404 1.2-3.8 .304 0.5-0.8 .600

Towns is only getting 4 more minutes. DAR is way behind in FGA. 9.5 FGA compared to Okafor's 16.9. That's just crazy.

Phil is holding Porzingis minutes down too. Not sure if they fear injury (he's a walking tooth pick out there) or his fouls are keeping him out.

I think Scott is ruining Russell's development right now but Russell is naturally talented to eventually overcome it and he will be a good player for us ...

But damn, I'm starting to think that when we look back on this draft, we won't be thinking, "We should've picked Okafor over Russell." We'll be thinking, "I wish we had even better luck in the draft because we were so close to being able to get Karl Anthony Towns."

I still like Russell over Towns for our team.

As much as Byron is f***ing up, I'm hoping Kobe is behind the scenes teaching the kid and keeping his head up

I won't. The Wolves actually have a competent coach in Sam Mitchell. Not that he's Phil Jackson or something, but he at least has the the smarts to play through his rookie big man who is playing great basketball no doubt. Supremely skilled and a two player.

Still I believe Russell can have every bit as good a career as Okafor or Towns. Again both these guys have the freedom of already basically being the #1 option. Russell doesn't. Even with Kobe tonight he wasn't that much more involved because of this stupid Princeton crap. With Kobe in there he's relegated to be a stand and still jump shooter basically and a cutter. Once we get a coach who will put the ball in this kid's hands and we've already seen what he can do with it on a limited basis. Saw good work from him defensively on Dragic as well. He's gonna be a great all around point guard.

I said it a few weeks ago, but I truly believe the Lakers, Minnesota, and Philadelphia will all be happy with their respective picks. I see all as potential franchise players and superstars. Been awhile since that has happened. Probably since 2003 when Miami got D-Wade, Denver got Melo, and obviously Cleveland got LeBron. I don't think they'll be quite at that level of stardom, but certainly I don't think any teams will be regretting what happened on draft night. All three need it to. Minnesota hasn't had a true franchise player since KG. Philadelphia since Allen Iverson. Obviously we needed to find that guy who can carry the franchise with Kobe's decline and retiring coming soon.

To be fair a couple had that Kobe almost too hot to handle speed on them but were off tips of fingers from too much lead.
