Had someone try to argue with me that D'Angelo is no different than Kendall Marshall. Nearly spit out my coffee. Marshall was a scrub who was the benefactory of an up tempo system. Couldn't defend a chair, couldn't shoot, couldn't drive, couldn't get back in transition. Doesn't have half the skill set that Russell does. Not even a third.

i don't mind the idea of making a rook earn minutes. what I did mind was playing him out of position. Byron quickly remedied that problem, so I'm willing to see if his philosophy can work. I mentioned this in they Byron thread, I think, but after seeing how Clarkson emerged over time, I'm willing to give him some rope in this instance.

^Kobe remedied the D'Angelo problem. As far as the minutes in the 4th, that's fine. I don't mind that. I'm actually glad Byron had the brain to keep Lou in, and I don't have a problem sitting Russell during that time. He'll have plenty of time when the season is over in January to close out most if not all of these games...

Just caught some Okafor highlights, the boy is a solid NBA player right now, I don't think DAR can have the same impact in the next two years.

I thought I read some place that Mitch and the front office pretty much told Byron to play Clarkson more.

I thought I read some place that Mitch and the front office pretty much told Byron to shape the f*** up and get his act together or they are going to pay him for this year and next year to stay home in his new house with those "halogens".... starting sooner than anyone could have imagined. They are proficient in this action. :Magic Brows:

Russell has been talking a lot this off-season...

how he wants to win so bad and how his hunger seperates him from others and how he wants to be rookie of the year etc. etc...

well a lil adversity is pretty good IMO to test out whether he walks the walk or just talks the talk.

Maybe it's just me, but if we're still trying to win games early in the season, I want Lou finishing in the 4th. Better shooter with more experience. Once we hit full tank mode, let Dlo finish. Sadly, tank mode will be here sooner than later with Byron running the show.

Okafor talk should be in a general rookie thread in the NBA discussion forum.

What really matters is that Philly is 0-4 as well.

Both team are losers, but they are a loser with a better rookie who looks like a sure thing.

They look like a losing team with a rookie who is their only real scoring option to be honest.

Well, i don't know who the hell Brett Brown is but im pretty sure, that he's better than Byron :giggle:
Im also pretty sure that DAR would look much better on any other NBA team. Let's wait for a new coach, an actual system and players who "buy" that ;).

if the lakers just ran a high screen for Russell each trip down and told him to create, he could inefficiently put up 20 points right now, too. hell, young aaron brooks did this for an entire season in Houston.

I'm not worried about comparisons to okafor until after maybe next year. okafor wouldn't have helped the lakers be respectable this year.

It's not so much Okafor talk that bothers me. I would be supporting him 100% if we picked him. But when I come to the Russell thread I am expecting to read something about Russell. I think discussion of any other rookies performance should be in its own thread.

And I agree. I don't think any rookie outside of maybe Towns would have really helped us this year. Even with him I'm not sure how much it would show up in the wins and losses column (although I think he and Randle would have been an awesome duo).
