True. Denver all in for Mudiay. Lakers bringing along Russell slowly. Meanwhile in a social media charged society our boy is getting hammered on Twitter which is affecting his play and confidence.

    Stay strong DAR.

If there is one, ONE! thing you should take from Kobe it's his disregard for the opinions of people
who do not matter. It served him well for 17 years.

The SECOND would be attention to detail, since you reportedly already have the work ethic.

He did alright last night. He had a nice little run in the 3rd quarter. He's still missing some open shots, he played ok defensively, IMO. In 21 minutes, he racked up 6 assists, and the teams left about 2 assists on the floor with him. He's getting there. Slowly but surely.

aside from his tentativeness, i've been happy with russell. his shot will come around; it looks good, and he's hit it before. and he's already better defensively than i expected.

he's better than mudiay, and will be going forward. we'll see if he's better than okafor and the zinger.

It's not just social media going after Russell, Isiah Thomas, Rick Kamla, and Steve Smith were in full attack mode last night on NBATV. They said he has no fire or competitive spirit and that LA might not be the place for him.

Yeah. Still waiting for his shots to fall consistently. On the plus side, I think he is taking good, quality shots just not hitting them yet. I'd like him to have a good shooting night more to get his critics off of him for a minute than really being worried about it.

The playmaking ability is there. He finds the open guy and you can already see the rest of the team getting used to the passes coming from seemingly nowhere.

Yeah, Russell does need to be more assertive. However, have they every played for Byron Scott? I think both Scott and Russell both need to share the blame a bit, but I'll reserve judgment on a 19 year old rookie who has other mouths to feed, playing in a system that doesn't put him in positions to succeed, and is playing for the worst coach in the league.

He's improving steadily. As Byron untightens the handcuffs on Russell as the season progresses, we'll se a different player.

Ehhh. I turned them off. Sorry but I couldn't take them seriously after their praise for Byron. They also praised Mudiay who did not look that good at all between his ugly shooting and turnovers. He just has a longer leash right now than Russell.

They hailed Scott as a former All Star and a great coach....that should say all you need to know.

Yeah, it does. Whatever. He makes the 'right' decision on the basketball court. There are some limitations to his game right now and stuff he definitely needs to work on, but I trust he will.

Their vision (Rondo, Russell) are very similar too me. When Rondo was in Boston, I used to love the way he read the game and made the right decisions. I think Russell has that same ability.

If Russell could become Rondo with a jumper, that'd be great.

    1. I'm happy to hear he's pissed about not finishing the game
    2. Even though I agree that most of his decisions are just mind boggling, Byron was right about this one - Lou deserved to stay in the game
    3. Russ has to earn it, and he will
    4. I disagree that he HAS to be much more aggressive. More yes, but not by a mile. We already have Kobe, Randle and Clarkson in there, his calm demeanor may just prove to be a blessing in the long run.

I saw a lot of good things.

A lot of the problems I see from him will be fixed when he's stronger physically. He's so twiggy that he looks terrified to drive. I get that. His defense suffers when the PG puts their body on him. That'll improve too.

You know what's great? The shot is falling more, the passes are making it there, the competitiveness is there, and the principles are there. Offensively and defensively he GETS IT, he just looks incapable of executing because of his weak body. It's frustrating because there were so many other prospects that were more NBA ready and our own young prospects are included in that. Still I actually was quite encouraged from that game for D'Angelo.
