I stand by what I said. I don't want Kobe taking 13 threes a game. I don't care if he's wide open, that's not a high percentage shot for him, and he's fallen in love with it because they are giving it to him. Cut that number in half and I feel a lot better.

13 is a bit much. How about 5-6?

5 -6 I would be okay with personally especially if they come within the flow of the offense. The problem for me wasn't just that he took so many shots, but how he took them. He wasn't the only black hole we had out there though. Hopefully they all watched some film and worked that out.

If I remember correct that was the first play I saw that he controlled the ball and the offense. I said very loudly at my TV, "see! See!"

Also notice how Bass is on the perimeter for that play, more like a 4, instead of stuck under the hoop being wasted as the 5 he isn't. Use your PF as a PF. It's sort of like if we stuck Randle under the hoop and expected him to be the same player.

18ft-in is Kobe's bread and butter and he should stick with that, he's a 50% shooter out there and better closer. As soon as he steps further out of that he drops off dramatically. When inside he also draws defenders inside and away from actual 3pt snipers. Sure if he adopts a Rip H/Ray A type of role of constant running around screens till he's open, he'll get some quality looks at 3s but I don't know if we are best served by that. Kobe should be moving further inside, not outside.

Kobe is a good shooter when open, he just takes ridiculously tough shots some times. If he's open he should shoot the 3, regardless of how many. Silly to say he shouldn't take them even if he's wide open because of some arbitrary number.

Again, I stand by what I said. Nobody should be taking 13 threes per game except maybe those 2 dudes on the Warriors. If Kobe wants to take around 6-7, ok, because he can make 2-4 and it's not gonna hurt us. But you're taking 13, making 3, maybe 5 on a good night, no way. He's not a 3 point shooter, he's better closer. Look at the stats from the first game, he shot so much better from 2. I'm not saying don't shoot threes, I'm saying what I thought you were saying, stop chucking.

^He shoots a bad % because he takes contested 3s, pretty simple. Kobe is a good shooter, wide open he will make them at good clip. The number of shots has no bearing on that. Shooting 33% from 3 is the same as shooting 50% from the 2, btw. You're telling me, Kobe, an NBA guard, can't hit a 3 with no one guarding him at 33%? That's ridiculous.

He's been taking open ones (as open as he gets) since preseason game 1, hasn't seemed to make a difference on make and misses. He makes what he makes, he'll make contested ones and airball a wide open one, he's streaky from 3.

What are we even arguing here though? I'm saying he shot too many threes and needs to cut that down, you seem to be arguing something else entirely. I just said I'd be ok with him going 2-7 on threes, as opposed to 3-13. Unless my math is really wrong, that's less than %33 and I said I'm ok with it, because he's not chucking a bunch of long shots. I don't think I said what you ended by saying, so how is anything I've said ridiculous?

Scott is clueless. Absolutely clueless. This is an egregious misuse of this young kid's talent. Same BS as Wednesday night. Stand in the corner while everyone plays one on one basketball and not allowing a kid with great playmaking skills get easier shots for everyone else on the court.

Draft a skilled and talented passing PG with star potential #2, play him 20 mins a game and have him stand in the corner playing off ball. How does this make any sense?!

What's even more painful is listening to people bash the kid when it's not even his fault! Mychal Thompson practically ripped him a new one all day today on espn710.

    13 pts on 50% shooting.
    2 rebounds
    2 assists
    1 turnover
    23 minutes.

That's not bad at all and should keep the box score watchers off his back for a couple of hours at least.

Unfortunately the massacre that was this game will levy some scrutiny towards him and the entire team. I hope most of it goes to Byron, cuz that's where it belongs.

I agree. This was a complete debacle and the blame belongs squarely on Byrons shoulders
