Yeah, this is pretty impressive. We won't need a "resident cap-ologist" anymore. We will be able to integrate an AI engine in the forum and get answers quickly. In the end, we'll also replace most, if not all posters with AI. :p

I nominate sirron to do all our cap work henceforth …. do we have a second? First though have to know if he has an irrational bias toward or about the alleged but never prosecuted knife assault by Rob Pelinka upon one Magic Johnson.

There is no way on any plane of reality that the Spurs will ever help us acquire a “star.” Also, I didn’t see what they were sending out in this deal.
It is a very interesting exercise, though.

I don’t see any team willing to hard cap themselves with a S&T for DLO.What value will he have if you sign him for one year and every body knows you don’t want him?
He’s going to opt out most likely and if he does let him walk.If he doesn’t immediately get rid of him.The ntpmle is more valuable than he is at this point in team building and financial

teams that aren't currently competing don't really have to worry that much about the hard cap, imo.

to a bad team? some. to a contending team? almost negative value--especially if he's the best player you have at his position!

he's in control here. he knows we'll move him if he opts in, so he'll only do it if he knows we'll move him to a spot that helps his future prospects. the good news is that i think there are some bad teams that can eat his one-year salary and flip him at the deadline for a 1st rounder when he finally transitions into a difference-making sixth man for a playoff team.

disagree here. if we want the full ntpmle, we should just sign dlo to a 3 year full mle deal like we did gabe. he's more valuable than gabe (or schroder), and that's the going price.

anyway, i'm at: sign to lower dollar/long-term deal or just move on. not sure i think there's a great scenario wherein he walks for nothing, though. he's better than what our money can buy.

You don’t replace him with free agency you upgrade via trade then build depth with the ntpmle and MLE.It would also make it easier to resign Max because they would be a lot further under the tax

i'm confused maybe--if you use him in trade, you bring back his salary or close to it, so you don't have the mle to use. you also only get one mle-tax payer or non-taxpayer. the tpmle is smaller than the room exception now and less than half the ntmle.

To be clear if he walks you use Rui,Gabe,Vando etc. to replace him(not a high bar imo) you then use the NTPMLE on more than one player.

ok, but then you're out 1-2 forwards with size. you may have traded three or four rotation players for two in the end, right?

as far as low cost to replace dlo--take a look at his regular season production, then look at others who produce similarly and what they're paid. he's actually underpaid until the playoffs start. and in the west, you still have to get there. there may only be two bad teams in the west next year (utah and portland).

We are basically not going to be able to improve much unless we can S&T DLo.
Just trading three of our rotation players and pics for either Trae or Mitchell also makes us a worse team. We would just be another PHX Suns team.

There are a few realistic trades to make that wouldn’t cost you 3-4 players. There’s two guys in Atlanta alone (none named Trae). When I assess this team there are two problems that are glaring to me and keep them from meeting their potential.
1.They lack the physicality to rebound. The multiple extra possessions they gave other teams was alarming.
2.They are a slow footed team. They lack the quickness and athleticism to compete for 50/50 balls especially in the backcourt.

Orlando linked to DLO. There's been speculation based on their cap space, but this is the first sourced tie between the two.

yeah, it's interesting that banchero describes like, tj mcconnell and not dlo, and then the story's like: they want dlo.

meh; i know we aren't getting mitchell, and tbh, he's not a franchise-altering presence. if it were luka or ant that everyone was going to outbid us for, i'd be sad.
