Just understand the feel of the game. With the starters more often than not you have to be the facilitator and spacer. With other units be more aggressive.

i think the biggest challenge early on will be finding the right balance between creating for himself vs. others. He's a natural PG but he seems to know that there are times that he needs to take on the scoring load. it was nice to see him come in at the end of the 4th and establish himself as a scorer.

^Cool. I thought he was very efficient yesterday; love the pull-up and the mid-range game he incorporated. He closed out the game very nicely. He also had 2-3 nice defensive possessions on Lillard, IMO. Solid outing...

Yeah. I liked what I saw overall. I think him and Huertas are easily going to be the best point guard tandem we have had in ages.

This is a link that was provided for me on another forum. It's the advanced section for preseason games so far. Check out D'Angelo and compare him to other top 10 picks in some categories. D'Angelo has such a high IQ, understands spacing, where to position himself on the floor so other can have space to attack, and generally play off-ball well for a 19 year old; he does so many subtle things that don't go in the box score. He helps our offense become more efficient just with his mere presence on the court so positively. Once that shot starts going down consistently, watch out!

    Man, that's pretty impressive.

And I completely agree with you on Russell. He's just going to keep getting better and better. You can already see the chemistry forming between him and the rest of the group.

I really felt like he had a mini-break out game with that fourth quarter scoring outburst on Monday night. It was great to see. Some have mentioned that he had no assists but to me he did what he needed to do in calling his own number. Personally I loved it. I love the fact that he can create for others but can also take over if need be.

Elgin and RandleROFY, you guys have been huge Russell proponents from the beginning and I am glad that he's coming through as you hoped and predicted. I'm becoming more of a fan each and every game. I am very impressed at how much he's showing so early. Really looking forward to watching this young core improve throughout this year. He and Clarkson and Randle are a phenomenal trio.

With Huertas leading the bench unit we look pretty darned solid. I think we'll fight for wins, have flashes of brilliance, have some obvious learning curve, and it will be a team Laker fans can be proud of rooting for. I know I will be.

He still has a long ways too go. In High School, he took on more of the scoring load; in college, he was the guy doing everything. Right now, he's adapting to the NBA and trying to find a defined role within the starting unit. It will come. It's just taking some time.

As the season progress, I think you'll see Scott run exclusively far more high pick in rolls for Russell and Clarkson when they play together.

I expect him to start but could see Huertas getting the nod.

I'm hoping we see regular rotations tomorrow, see the coaches treat it as a regular season game essentially. I do want to see Russell and Clarkson against curry and Klay.

^That comment about Russell needing to pick up the pace....I agree. It's funny. He's such a calm cerebral guy that lets the floor develop, versus Clarkson who just wants to attack.

I agree though. I don't think Russell is playing too slow or anything and I like that he's patient, but I'd also like him to pick up the pace, work on his speed, and keep the defense on their heels. It'll end up in more flashy passes and more scoring opportunities for him, too.
