    Stats without context.
Missing KAT. Had been starting next to Rubio - which is a terrible idea for anyone who knows their games.
Last two games, Rubio has gone to the bench. Russell's Net is +2 in the last two games. It's not good, but he just put up his best individual game of the season (33/11), and Wolves fans are happy with the change.

We can talk about whether he was or wasn't worthy of the ASG. That's fair, but he took that Nets team to the playoffs. And everyone who watched and followed Brooklyn knows that team doesn't get there without him.

he's a defensive liability and can't stay consistent on offense. not a recipe for success and he's crazy if he really think a team is willing to pay him a near max deal

sucks what happened in brooklyn because he was in a good situation there. thought it'd finally work out for him in minny with guys like edwards and KAT around him but he just can't stay consistent

minny's in a very tough spot, imo.

gobert's having by far his worst season since his rookie year, with reid sometimes looking like the better option at center for them. they have reid's bird rights, but he's likely to be pursued with serious offers (like from teams with space, imo) and is a UFA.

edwards and mcdaniels might come up for paydays as soon as the following summer, unless they play the RFA game with them, which generally turns out poorly.

if they re-up russell and pay reid market value, they'll be teetering on the luxury tax line BEFORE edwards and mcdaniels get paid.

i'd move russell for a pg of lesser profile, preferably that's cost-controlled, if i were them. not sure who that would be, though.

he's obviously not very bright. tons of talent, but he hasn't shown himself to be very dedicated to becoming a winning basketball player. i'd stay far away, tbh.

Does @trodgers still answer the DLO searchlight to the clouds? Like @Slick2021 with Russ?

rodgers should be here to tell me and anyone else who doubted him on sabonis to eat a big one, tbh.

i'm afraid is long uphill battle for russell is going to end up in the ditch, though.

his entire offensive game seems to be based off his ability to make rather difficult shots. he's not as good of a passer as people thought he'd be and when his shot isn't falling, he's got absolutely nothing to contribute aside from terrible defense

I'll preface by saying that I don't follow basketball. I check in on Russ after each game, will watch highlights of Minnesota, and I have a few other guys I'm interested in following: Sabonis, Zach Collins, and I'm always intrigued by the Markelle Fultz story. I'll even check on Biyombo and Nerlens Noel occasionally.

Regarding Russ: I suppose it depends a lot upon what you believe about him and what you want from him on a team. He was holding opposing PGs to the lowest effective FG% this season through the first 20 games. That seems to have changed. He's 16th in DRPM right now, according to ESPN and 17th in total RPM. Average among starters.

Russell has changed his game quite a bit since coming to Minnesota. His Usage is way down, and that's probably the first thing that strikes people: his counting stats are down. But he's shooting 46% from the floor, 36% from the arc, 85% from the line, and has his career best eFG%. His shooting numbers inside the arc are impressive this season, right on par with Steph Curry's (see bkref's breakdowns).

He has between the 33rd and the 38th highest salary in the NBA this season.

I think he'll continue to have a solid career. I could see him becoming an all-star again in some situations, but I'd prefer to see him stick around with Ant and Towns for career success.
