He’s got career best numbers in points and assists this month. Over 300 points and 100 dimes.

Four players during age 22 season.

    A: 35.4 MPG, 19.5 PPG, 2.4 APG, 6.4 RPG, .442/.343/.798

    B: 38.6 MPG, 19.0 PPG, 6.5 APG, 3.1 RPG, .429/.368/.844

    C: 35.3 MPG, 19.1 PPG, 5.5 APG, 3.7 RPG, .418/.332/.808

    D: 29.6 MPG, 19.5 PPG, 6.4 APG, 3.8 RPG, .440/.376/.810

    A: Paul Pierce
    B: Damian Lillard
    C: Brandon Jennings
    D: D'Angelo Russell

Pierce's shooting numbers and athleticism are comparable to Russ's. His ability to get to the line is much better, and he clearly wasn't a PG.
Lillard's numbers are alarmingly similar despite Russ's playing far fewer minutes.
Jennings is something of a cautionary tale. He peaked at age 22, but it's worth noting that Russ's stats are already better than BJ's best season.

    Check this one out...

"Since the NBA started tracking turnovers in 1977, only 13 players have recorded multiple games of 30 or more points, seven or more dimes, and zero cough-ups in a single season, and entering 2018-19 no one had managed more than two in a campaign. Russell now has notched three such games since mid-December."

cleaning up the TOs has surprised me. i thought that would always plague him (like it does harden) because he's a little lazy and only really half a pg. but hey...can't betray the swag.

The ONLY thing keeping Dlo from greatness was his immaturity (not taking the game seriously enough, lazy TOs, partying, inconsistent play, etc). He's always had the talent. Now, he's matured. I'm really bummed we got rid of him.

I think he just needed more tattoos and the right hairstyle. He seems to have found the right combo

Atkinson seems to have a talent for developing young players that Luke doesn’t have. Jarrett Allen looks like a stud, too.

I will never understand why anyone in the organization was shocked that a 19/20 year old was immature.

I get it from an institutional POV. If the immaturity is perceived by the majority of your squad and organization as a deep defect, that's A reason (maybe not an overriding reason) to jettison him.

In some advanced metrics, Lowry's a top 20 player. I think in the RPM he's pretty dominant.

It’s why I am a big fan of letting our kids continue to develop versus send them out too soon in a bad deal

DAR made some locker room related mistakes that he might not have been given the chance to overcome here whether fair or unfair.

Our current crop of young talent has flashes of immaturity vs young DAR’s flashes of maturity. That is a terribly unfair overgeneralization, but hopefully you see where I’m coming from.

    I’m glad he’s prospering.

You just sold it all for a 34-y/o LeBron though.

    He has missed...
    10 games first four seasons
    17 games next four seasons
    28 games third four seasons
25 games so far these four seasons

That's incredible durability, but it's not going to get better.

Consider Kobe had missed only 10 games in the three seasons leading up to his age 35 season.
Then he missed 76, 47, and 18 in the next three.

Among the top 5 most successful players at age 34 since 2000, they went on to do the following:
Cassell missed 23 games at age 35, 4 at 36, 24 at 37, and 27 at 38 before hanging them up.
Anthony Mason played all 82 at 35, played 65 the next season, and then retired.
Gasol missed 10 games at 35, missed 18 the next season, 5 the next, and 20+ this season. He has averaged about 24 MPG the last three seasons.
Payton played all 82 at 35, 77 at 36, 81 at 37 (didn't start regularly and played 28.5 MPG), and played 68 games at 38 before retiring.
    PJ Brown went 82 games at 35, 75 at 36, 72 at 37 (20.2 MPG), and 18 at 38 before retiring.

Wish we could have kept him, but the re-build would not be as far along if we had. Getting rid of Mozgov's contract was pretty important. Bear in mind that the 1st round pick we got back in the deal turned into Kuzma.

Could have traded someone else though. Like Ingram or the pick that became Ball.

Two things about Kuzma: No one else had him that high on their board, so he would have been available later. Second, I think he's incredibly overrated by LA fans. He's a volume shooter who doesn't defend, doesn't hit the three, and is older than most players in his draft class. Randle is 100 days older and Russ is younger.

FWIW, there were rumors that the Ball pick could have been turned into Sacramento's two first rounders (Fox and Collins).
