upload_2017-9-26_23-18-32.jpeg upload_2017-9-26_23-22-43.jpeg D'angelo Russel should audition for the Woody Harrelson role in "White Men Can't Jump." Somebody that annoying, entitled with body language that could kill a franchise with a single eye roll, make Michael Jordan break his fist on his whack hair, make Charles Barkley sober and Scotty Pippen tip.

    Because Fast Eddie he ain't
A slow moving, ball spilling, ego tripping, lazy player with a jump shot so flat-footed it couldn't pass an army medical exam.

To me he is more the unfulfilled promise. If you know "The Color of Money" my analogy sees him as Vince (Tom Cruise's character). Yes he may exude a modicum of "IT" from time to time, but this is just to break the cap of desperate franchises and of loyal fans. Mark my words, he DOES NOT deserve the Balabushka. He is not the man that makes our big two a big three even before factoring in a Lebronicle signing here. In fact I will say Russell annoyed more with his plays than Lebron ever did.

To bring the Woody Harrelson reference full circle, and link to the Hustler, here is a quotable scene from Kingpin.

He may get similar averages to last year in a nothing but Nets team, he may have looked good on a Lonzo pass (but so would I), I am calling it, and I not one fact has been harmed in this post. I base it on the eye test, the gut test, and perhaps even the is he still on this team test. So if mid-season you come back to serve some crow to me and ask me how about dem apples, I say no sir, they seem just like Marberries to me at the moment. He is more Seth Curry, than Steph in NBA history.

He has always been very good on offense. Watching him knocking down shots and cutting to the basket makes me feel we could really use his skills on our team right now.

Defense is a different story. In the preseason game vs the Knicks, he just stood there, not helping boxing out or making contact with the offensive players. So ehhh. Whatever.

DLO looked good. 19 pts, 4 dimes, 2 steals and a block in only 20 minutes. First time really watching the Nets and I liked how they play under Atkinson.

Welp. He looked pretty goood...Kuzma is the only reason that I'm not going to say much about this trade.

If Lopez comes in and kills it for us, then I'll shut up about it for good.

I'm still confused as to why Kuzma get's attached to that trade. We also had the 28 pick where we would have drafted him anyways. Unless Nets had Kuzma high on their board.

DLO is gonna put up stats on that team. Still don't have sellers remorse. Good riddance. Addition by subtraction.

because people really need to defend that trade right about now? we would have drafted kuzma at 28 (and simply not had hart or bryant), had we not made that trade.

I'd be kinda unhappy to not have T. Bryant as the big kid has small ball and other ball with floor stretching potential. And real unhappy trying to move Mozgov at the deadline or worse end of the season and Lopez not coming back in return ..... plus having to move Deng. Getting bent over for both those contracts in short time frame would really make you sore. :dwightcrying:

Yep. I have zero regrets still about that move. You think Russell/Mozgov is going to really be the difference making help for us right now? Russell and Moz would have stopped last night's poor effort? They would have done a better job coaching? They would have kept turnovers to a minimum? I don't think any of those things were strengths of either of those players.

last night's game? definitely. instead of tyler ennis and whoever we had impersonating a center?

one of the concerns with lopez was health, which has already raised its head.

anyway, that's reframing the argument. the question is whether it was worth dumping our most talented player to clear space for non-existent FAs.

^ hey, hey. What do you mean "non-existent FAs"? We'll end up with stars like Joe Johnson or some other Zaza, you'll see. Keep the faith my man ;)

Definitely couldn't help our lack of scoring or shooting on the starting unit.

And I still say yes. It wasn't just to clear salaries, there were other positives (a 1st round pick and a potential reclamation project that happens to fit perfectly into the modern offense).

And I also still say no: he wasn't going to do anything last night we hadn't seen for two years: inexplicable turnovers and lack of attention to detail. He would have brought the same garbage we got last night and we would have got blown out anyway.

a backcourt of ball at the 1 and russell at the 2 would have been so much fun to watch, not to mention effective

it's a shame we'll never see that. let's just hope BI and lonzo are all that they're hyped up to be or else we're screwed for another decade

Actually we slide KCP in at the 2 instead of Russell which I think is a better fit in a lot of ways overall. KCP is a different class of defender, better athlete, and still gives us a boost offensively (once we get settled into the offense).

I definitely would have liked to see Ball/Russell share a back court on paper, but I'm not sure their mentalities and philosophies fit well together. With KCP we still get a good pick and roll player if/when Lonzo isn't controlling the ball. Hopefully he'll be able to knock down some catch and shoot jumpers.

I've noticed we're bringing him off screens, but not Ingram. I don't understand that.
