I really don't know who is on the Nets (don't care either) but regardless Russell will have more opportunities there and a larger role so he will be more productive. Will he be efficient? Will he involve his teammates? Will he be more disciplined with the ball? Will he "want to" play defense? Those are the kind of growth factors about Russell which are to be determined.

I won't be surprised if he posts numbers that give him consideration for the East as an All-Star.

I'm gonna say he'll have Conley type numbers in the East.

Just listened to the latest Hollywood Hoops Podcast, and I think it was Erick Pinkus that said he got to talk to Dlo recently at some kind of player event.

I found this interesting, Pinkus said he asked Dlo if he still kept in touch with any of his former Lakers teammates, and Dlo said "Randle", then Pinkus asked "that's it?" because everyone thought Dlo and Clarkson were close, and Russel said again "Randle".

So I guess that's the only Laker he still likes

Must be the shared agent. They don't really seem like compatible personalities, but that's just what we can see on the court. Maybe off the court they're friendlier.

And yeah it is strange he doesn't talk to or hang out with Clarkson at all.

Strange how quickly I’ve forgotten about Russ. I guess that happens when you go to the Nets, and we got the summer league we did from Ball.

He left after Russell was traded and Ball was drafted.

From what he said he's actually real close with Russell because he was cutting his hair for a while. The rest of the guys correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Trodgers say Russell was moving him out to BRK too?

i have absolutely no clue as to rodg's personal life beyond that he was employed in some capacity as an academic (as am i). i miss his contributions here, and i'm guessing his exit was not entirely about the russell trade, but more about the board climate at that time and whether emotional investment in sports fandom makes sense.

    i deal with the same.

    but here i am.

btw, russell looked good in a recent photo. maybe he's moved past his problems in la (which i always suspected were substance-related).

Following sports and talking sports is supposed to be a diversion from everyday real life. When the joy is sucked out of being a fan, and it's no longer fun, there is no reason to stick around.

I've taken breaks from here before, and some were even voluntary. :D@trodgers contributions are definitely missed, and he's a valued member.

My guess is the joy that being a Laker fan usually brought him, or that discussing the Lakers and analyzing stats usually brought him, is missing at this time.

Hopefully it returns someday, as we all miss his contributions to the community. @trodgers you are missed, and hope you are well.

Wasn't that a joke, I thought, when someone said it here, plus his tattoo artist and was moving to be close to him for that? When he's a college professor in FL .... correct?

    I miss him too.

    ^Punk-101 with the post...

I was down in the dumps after the O'Neal thread and took me nearly two seasons to get over it. Not the same magnitude of stature player of course wise but I know how T-Rod felt but not enough to go on a self imposed exile.

I always got this feeling that Clarkson felt just as betrayed as Swaggy when the video leaked. On the court and in interviews he tried to play it cool, but it looked like all the love was lost in his body language. They were attached at the hip through the first half of DLo's rookie season. I really think that bridge was burnt beyond recognition after the video.
