Awesome that's what I like to hear. I was worried with JC's improvement that if Russell pans out the backcourt would be "crowded". They might be able to work a la Nixon/Magic albeit Clarkson isn't the distributor that Nixon was. Or what the suns tried to do with Bledsoe and Dragic, etc.

I don't think I'd say that Harden is particularly explosive either, he's kinda quick and strong. But totally agree that he isn't a good comparison for Russell. Russell's handles are far superior.

So what? We don't like his beard, creating contact always looking for fouls, interrupting MWP's happy celebration coming back up the floor after a good play by running into his elbow and we all do like to bash him. :envy:

MT: What are your thoughts on D’Angelo Russell? He’s only 19, but how does the process of developing his body go?

    Vitti:
There are some things that we’ve discussed. There are some physical weaknesses he has that show up on his evaluation, and we’re working on those things. That’s why he’s here in this last week of July when most players don’t show up until sometime after Labor Day. He wants to be good and work hard. He wants to do everything that he needs to do. He’s 19, he played in high school and one year of college; I think that he saw that the Summer League is a different animal than college, and when he gets into a real NBA game it’ll be that much more. He’s had a great attitude about accepting the weaknesses that have been identified and wanting to correct them and spend the time and effort to do that.

I wouldn't assume his son's financial status was the reason for his brain damage.

I just hope D'Angelo didn't pick up any of the bad habits from his father...

buying dad a Maserati right off the bat...I don't know, man. maybe a cultural difference, but I don't think you go spending that kind of cash on cars for family members until the second contract. buying him a Maserati whilst probably having knowledge of his interest in purple drank and weed, well that's judgment on par with what we saw on the floor in the summer league.

    too soon?

I don't like that story at all. I don't have an issue with buying your parent a car when you make it, but that car, when you haven't played a game yet? I don't wanna go overboard, but that's immaturity to me, he is definitely a 19 year old. That, put together with a lot of his tweets I see, makes me realize just how young some of these kids are.

From everything I've heard about Rus, he seems to be high character so I doubt his dad will rub off on him.

Yeah, I'm not worried about Russell. He'll be fine. If anything this will teach him to think twice before buying something for his father without seriously considering the long and short term ramifications of doing possibly soon something in the future for him.

I'm sure it's just your normal case of "I don't want to be like my Dad, but I'm going to get him Maserati."

    Nothing to see here.

Please don't give him an allowance Russell.

If anything I'm surprised this wasn't made a bigger deal of since he's a Laker. I'm sure John Black has talked with him extensively about how he's getting off easy right now.
