yes its real and AFAIK no other rookie has signed a deal yet.

Reason: He is on the Lakers. Nuff said.

I wonder how much the deal is... Nike almost never strikes out on big endorsements.

Pretty much every player signs a deal with a shoe company. They don't need to be a big name or anything. Nike has 150+ NBA players alone signed to them. That just means they have to wear Nike all the time. Getting a signature shoe deal is a whole different story and they don't just give those out.

But Lakers and star power doesn't matter any more! Go to Dallas! Go to the Clips!

Can't wait for D'Angelo to start working with Steve this summer. Glad Steve is giving back as much as he can.

I could be wrong, but I can't remember at least on the Lakers, any rookie having the pressure of turning around the franchise on their shoulders. Magic came in with Kareem here, Shaquille was a vet and Kobe had Shaquille. Russell and Randle having Kobe this year just isn't the same thing. The pressure is completely on them on the biggest stage with an organization that is supposed to contend for titles. These kids get nothing but respect from me.

Completely agree. Other guys are getting to play through mistakes. Our guys are getting booed at a summer league game. It's insane.

    They're getting booed? Really?

This is out of hand. Can we at least let these guys play a few NBA games before we as fans start piling on them? There are plenty of NBA stars that didn't set the world on fire during summer league.

It may take a season at least until we see what they're made of. We'll just have to be patient.

Maybe the booing is all part of sophisticated L.A. Fan's plan to make the chips on their shoulders even bigger.

L.A. Fan for the win. :D

Russell will have to adjust to that aspect of being a Laker. The spotlight will always be bright on him. For example, haven't heard a peep about Mudiay since he has come back down to earth including a 8 point, 7 turnover, 1 assist game the other night.

Comparing the turnover stats to the other guys also brings some perspective.
    Towns 3.75 turnover a game
    Russell 5.75
    Okafor 4.6
    Mudiay 5

Russell still leading the pack handsomely. ;)

I like him. He's having trouble trying to fit himself into a pure PG role. Just relax and take your shots young man. Nobody is going to get mad unless you miss open passes. If the shot is there, take it. Make the defense respect you, it opens up lanes for everyone else.

Am getting that "feeling lucky" vibe today..... maybe we're going to see Russell's finest game yet, fewest turnovers and several of those holy crap did you see that pass or handles "moments".

Yeah, I want him to be a little bit more aggressive offensively today, especially coming around screens and taking that jumper. I know he has it.
