Kobe has Passion, competitiveness and work ethic. He played his butt off. When you have those qualities as a youngster you can overlook arrogance and stubbornness to a degree. Totally different from this kid.

kobe was also fortunate to join an already competitive team. don't get me wrong: in no way will russell ever approximate kobe, but their situations were VERY different.

again, russell's actually been killing it with respect to sensible comps (other teenage pgs in their first two seasons). he's just not good enough to make lakers fans (or, apparently, coaches) happy.

You want to talk about being fortunate and going to a winning team... Tim Duncan is the poster child of that.

    Definitely.

But he's lucky to have had the type of mentorship and leaders in that locker room. David Robsinson, Bruce Bowen, Avery Johnson, Sean Elliot just to name a few. Not to mention one of the best coaches and staffs in all of Basketball.

Tim also being a 4 year player out of Wake Forrest had a great head on his shoulders too.

But yes, Kobe was lucky as well.

how sad is it that a) luke walton (noted non-shooter for most of his career) looks best and b) i would have won this contest. i'm an old-a** college prof.

DAR played a pretty solid game, and he was getting hot before the incident. I noticed that the hatred that many of you have for DAR means that you won't notice that he also got into the mix, and while you'll praise other players for their efforts, you won't praise him. So I'm noting it here.

Noticing the obvious flaws in his game or his alarming lack of focus in many games does not make one a hater, and yes he did play well up until the ejection.

I for one am glad he got into the mix. As a result, he got ejected and helped our tank prospects.
