    To be fair he'd been shooting well before that, but last game was pretty awful. He went 9/18 in three games sandwiched between two games where he went a combined 5/23! Yowza.

    I think that and the turnovers stem from the same issue: lack of attention to detail. Something I'd hoped Kobe could impart before he left these kids was that level of laser focus on doing things right and then repeating them over and over again. Instead I don't think Kobe left these kids with much of any sort of basketball lesson like that.

    he left them with the sense that you can not practice for three years and then just go score 60 and stuff.

    I mean... yeah. :D

    I just mean that he wasn't around for them on a daily basis to help them learn the ins and outs of the game. I know we all (at least me definitely) had hoped he'd have a hands on imprint on these kids and their approach, but if anything he might have hurt their work ethic.

    I think there's a lot of pressure on him to run the offense. I think Russell excels at being a SG than he does as a point. I mean, the kid can flat out score any where on the court really. Not only that, but this team lacks the talent to really work with as a point. This team can't shoot the ball, period.

    Which is why I think it's imperative we put him next to a true ball moving PG. Which is why I would really like Lonzo on this team next to Russell. They would make for a very dynamic backcourt.

    re: preparedness, i read it the same as i read the "effort" comments: just about everyone on the team struggles with this. on the nights russell's locked in, randle's not, and vice versa.

    good teams don't deal with that.

    the question for the FO is: is this about youth and learning to be a pro or is this a deeper personality problem with the best players on the team (russell and randle in particular)? glad it's not my job to determine that at this point...

    needs to fix that dead on three, as pgs get a lot of those. could be that most of his attempts there are off the dribble?

    i'd like to see his at-rim conversion rate above league average.

    more concerned about the red area in the long-two left side than the short-two right side, as the former is a shot you can use to make folks pay on certain pick and roll coverages and the latter is a shot you can largely avoid or easily pass out of.

    That's Luke with Kobe knowledge right there. Kobe knew these kind of shots. Kobe took hundreds of them. He knew the opportunity cost was to high to not to.

    ok, got around to watching the second half. russell thought he was harden at the end. he actually did a great impression--it's just that the refs chose to make the right calls like they NEVER do when the play involves harden. this frustrates me as a fan, and it would frustrate me as a young player, too. which set of rules apply and when? is it that my facial hair is too patchy?

    I don't think it's a good idea to impersonate Harden, but more importantly, only a handful of players get away with that kind of play. The other 440+ players do not. It's not about being young. He simply isn't good enough to get those calls. Like it or not, it's been that way forever. (star treatment ie Jordan, Kobe)

    harden got them before he was good. they're a really big part of why he's good.

    I disagree because I think Haren would be a great player either way (although I don't like him)

    Baiting fouls is a technique. It requires experience, knowing tendencies, timing, and angles (of refs) Kobe was good at it. Lou was better. And Haren is the best. Even if the bait looks good it doesn't mean it was executed properly.

    And like I mentioned, star power and reputation comes into play late in the game. Russell has neither.

    Difference Harden is a smart player and understands his limitations. Harden knows what he is good at and becomes great at it (ball handling, euro step, 3 pt bomb, head fakes, mid range, floaters). Harden knows he lacks elite speed but he can stop and pop faster than anyone in the league which is why guys can't defend him (go read the WSJ article, really interesting stuff on Harden's ability to stop fast).

    D-Lo ... well he's got ice in his veins right.
