i'm guessing nobody's trading a perennial allstar talent for an unproven 2nd year player who has a mysterious knee injury...

you could probably get nerlens noel!

in all seriousness, though. this worries me, given that russell is the only guy with #1 scoring option potential on this roster right now (imo, of course).

I know this sounds crazy but maybe DLO isn't injured and hes faking it so they can pump nick youngs numbers up even more then trade him.

Yeah I'm worried too. As critical as I've been of his play lately, his potential as a scorer is undeniable. If his knees are shot the setback would be insurmountable.

well, it means a prime asset gained in the dark years just disappeared into thin air. that is indeed quite a setback, both short and long term. let's just hope this isn't the case.

He played all summer into this season and for a young guy who hasn't really prepared for that grind it can cause issues. Hopefully its not to serious

On phone so won't post, but DAR reveals the knee has been bothering him all season. Had an MRI previously. Will rehab with team while they're on the road. Should be back early December. Via Rotoworld.

The way I understand PRP injections is that sometimes depending on the person, there's areas in their body that don't heal as well as they should. I haven't done a ton of research on PRP, but the way I understand it:

Your body is full of plasma which contains your red blood cells, white blood cells, etc. Depending on the person, that plasma may not be as conducive to healing as it's supposed to be. So what the procedure does is pull the plasma from your body, spin it in a centrifuge which separates out the components your body uses to heal, then you re-inject it. After being re-injected your white blood cells and proteins and whatever else you use to heal are supposed to be more capable of doing their thing after being freed from your red blood cells and other cellular entities.

Hopefully that helps. I'm still not sure how it's legal. I had always thought this was the same as blood doping or at least really similar...

Yes. That helps a great deal.

Also, I am worried because he is so young this has the potential to be a problem in the longer-term.

He has been experiencing pain (off and on) since SL. Remember, last SL, didn't he have knee pain than?

That explains why his overall lackluster play. He seemed slow and very hesitant to penetrate. Hopefully he comes back fully healed. I still expect him to progress into a star by the end of this season.

Why would it be the same as blood doping? It's just using your own blood with no additives AFAIK.

Also, how would anyone ever be able to test or it?

Blood doping is more red blood cells so you can carry more oxygen. My understanding is is this is PLATELET RICH THERAPY.

They are using a different part of the blood to expedite healing. Unless I'm completely misunderstanding the process.
