Not even close, but I understand you're joking. Russell is a very gifted player but there will be nobody like Kobe, ever. Ugh. I miss him already...:(

Sorry I didn't mean in terms of skills or ability but the way he attracts hate... I've been reading comments all around the web and there are a lot of venom out there for DLo which unfortunately is isn't helped by his mediocre play.

People need a new target. Currently it's Randle and DAR by committee. But come January, Ingram just may join them.

Fans are not generally known for being reasonable.

DLO had a VERY rough outing in that first game. Way worse than Randle who was lost offensively (and defensively at times) but still shot 50% and grabbed 7 boards in only 18 minutes of play. Russell played really badly. I am not sure what they are trying to do with him on the offense, but he keeps falling back on trying to score rather than getting others shots and it worries me a little bit. The turnovers weren't good either.

But he had some of this his first year, too, and then he had games where he was absolutely brilliant. So we just have to be patient with our young guns. They have a TON of talent. But they have a system to learn and they are still developing their own games. D LO, Randle and Ingram are all one and done college players. They will take a while.

Russell and Lou shouldn't be on the floor together.

Both players need the ball in their hands to be effective and both cancelled each other out because they don't know how to play off ball.

The offense became stagnant with a lot of standing around and ball watching.

Clarkson needs to start, I like the chemistry that Russell and Jordan have on and off the court.

i actually think Russell played pretty well off the ball last year. I think right now guys are figuring out how to play within the offense and when to freelance. I see some of these problems as a sign that guys are buying into the system and are learning when to pick their spots.

It's one pre-season game... Agree that it is a new scheme that has to be figured out by everyone. It involves everybody on the floor without having to watch someone else do their thing and react. I fully don't expect this crew to get it together somewhat until at least a quarter of the season has past.

Like it or not, our team success depends so much on D'Angelo. He needs to put his money where his mouth is, and dominate. I expect more from him, much more.

It's a lot to expect or ask a 2nd year guard to dominate. What is your definition of that as well? Not a lot of players in the NBA even average 20ppg or better these days, that Russ put up the numbers he did last season as a rookie under B0ron is impressive in itself. We're expecting too much too soon, if he does become a star it is going to take time. Hell, if he becomes Van Exel it's probably a success, because he's not Kobe, never gonna be, can't hold him to standards like that. This is a transition period for us, there is zero guarantee any of our lottery picks become stars or even all-stars, most team's don't. Patience, that's all I can continue to say, this is a years long experiment in the process.

Yes it is, but those are his words. At the very least, I expect him to become our 1st option and leading scorer this year. That would probably translate to 18-20 ppg? And take care of the damn ball!!

I think the 17-19 ppg range is something we should expect from him.

DLO earns the criticism. He's not backing up the level of his talk. So he either has to talk less or produce more.

    boom.

this is why i've repeatedly asked him via message board chatter to simply stfu and play. stock answers to media questions, low profile off the court, results on the court. do it do it.

    Hmm...

That is fascinating. Would you be willing to provide the measure of talk-to-backing up ratio? Is it 10 words = 1 POINT per game? Or perhaps 1 minute of interview time = -1TO per game? Do articles count? How about adjectives?

You do realize that what you exhibit is a fan version of Byron's "man up", right? That it is only a reflection on your, perhaps skewed, imagination of how well DAR should be playing or how little he should be talking?

Zen, I disagree, if Russ wasn't yapping like he has done something and just plays, people would not be on his case at all. Right now, he's all talk and controversies in social media but is mediocre when it's time to play. Why not be like JC? consistent and a good citizen.

You're analyzing it too much Zen. He crosses the line. Eye and ear tests confirm. Psychology be damned!

DAR >>> [IMG] YAKS too much.

Yapping? Did he schedule a press conference and told everyone how he is going to take his talents somewhere?

My problem with you guys defining this "yapping" and "not backing up" is two-fold:

    1. it's been 1 game
    2. you can't quantify any of your ridiculous measures

Also, what controversies? Telling a heckler to ".... off"? Oh my, stop the presses!

Anyway, most of the things he says are a direct response to a question. Sometimes moronic one. By a "journalist".

Our coach is willing to let him lead. He, by all measures, had a pertty good rookie season. He is giddy and is putting in the work, by all reports.

Just let the kid play and live.
