Nah. Luuke has given him the green light to fire away when he's open. DAR's going to shot too much like Kobe used to.

We already told you D’Angelo Russell is on the verge of a breakout season. And while our focus was mostly on the team/coaches nurturing his confidence and, via a more consistent model of deployment, gained experience, we cannot possibly ignore how an adjustment of the X’s and O’s from the system Luke Walton will employ should help Russell’s game.

Last season the Lakers ranked last in FG% on catch and shoot shots (35.5%) and 2nd to last in points produced on catch and shoot shots (19.8). The Warriors, meanwhile, ranked first in both categories (42.8%, 33.7 points per game). The first reaction this should be, well, duh. The Warriors have the best shooters in the league. Steph and Klay are dominant catch and shoot players and have the eternal green light to fire at will.

D'angelo will be mega-star. Only thing that can stop him is stupidity. Which in most cases, NBA all-stars stay steady during their career. Not too many go off the rails. Especially lately. I can't think of anyone recently. Gilbert Arenas? That was a while ago.

the soriano piece is good, particularly the bit about not being a slave to russell as a ballhandler. yes, i want him as the primary pg, but that doesn't mean he has to make all plays (a la harden or sometimes lillard). russell's was one of the few (the only? nance?) guys on the team that seemed to understand how to move off the ball to get shots last year, and defenses have to attend to him off the ball. plus, clarkson can definitely create kick out opportunities.

i agree that the forwards aren't as court-aware and ball-skilled as gs's (green and iggy in particular), and that will hurt direct emulation of their style. no real passers at the 4 or 5 spots for the lakers.

i really think walton's going to have to borrow a bit from portland, too. they have a somewhat similar roster construction in terms of general skillsets at each position. i'm not sure everyone recognizes how unique gs's collection of talent has been in terms of versatility and understanding team ball, not to mention the general advantage that having historically good, otherworldly shooters creates night in and night out.

Ah... Steven keeping it more "real" than "real" for 20 years straight.

1st, AFAIK, you could adjust settintg.
2nd, not everyone's a frontrunner like Cap. Jack. Perhaps he wanted the challenge?

I personally never played NBA video games, aside from the old ones, but I did play FIFA. Selecting Barcelona was frowned upon in our group.
You were supposed, in league setting, to pick something like Alaves or Santander and get championship with them.
That was the true indicator of skill.

So, really, this tweet is simply a further evidence of the looser that Jackson is.

I think Russell is just using every chance he gets to show his love of Walton and how happy he is Byron is gone.

Well, I guess Russ has jumped right into Kobe's shoes in terms of getting mountains of unwarranted hate. Kid can't say anything without someone spinning it negative.

What .... from DAR indeed seemingly, from an outsider perspective, kissing Luke's butt (I kinda get that thought ....:Noddingyes: even if not true) or what Jax said?

Of course always possible is DAR so hated playing for Boron last year that he's now finding every opportunity to take subtle or not so subtle shots at him publicly with his love for his new coach. Look at all the public shots he had to take last year that should have been talked out in Scott's office. All the young guys went through that crap with the Boron the a-Hole.

Season needs to start, DAR is going to show us his growth and we will hear less of these stupid shots at the kid. Sure he should probably keep his mouth a little tighter but hes still a kid.

Apparently people are saying that Luke was god-like in NBA2K4.

Now, DAR was 4 when NBA2K was released (or thereabouts), so he is likely talking about a later version...

Anyway, all these fake thug old school irrelevant hacks should shut the hell up.
