Thanks Chook... If Russell and Randle show off their chops, it'll probably be on a some highlights.

I actually want Westbrook to go to the C Bags. They wouldn't be a contender with him, and it would be amazing to steal Westbrook from them in the off-season.

Why would you trade your young stars when you can have the big free agents in the next two off seasons? Westbrook going to the C Bags is complete hogwash. I really believe Durant left because Westbrook couldn't guarantee he would stay or he told him he is leaving. Paul George is a free agent in 2018. The Lakers HAVE to look at those scenerios and know that those guys are the goal. You have to improve though. Lakers need to win a lot next year to show Westbrook that they are one player away from being in the playoffs and maybe going deep. And then in 2018, you get George and now the kids will have developed and you would have 2 super stars with maybe a couple of other up and coming stars. Thats the way you look at it. And Westbrook has to see that as well. If Westbrook wants to win, he waits a year and goes to a team that gives up nothing and still gets him. George in 2018 will have hit his prime of primes and would be the last piece to a possible title run for 5 years.

Trust the process. Mitch and Co have hit on their 2nd rounders even. Ingram, Russell, Nance Jr, Zubac, and Clarkson with Westbrook and George, wow. That is a real possibility in the next couple of years. And you have great vets like Deng there as well. Lakers are in great shape, trust the process and make sure you do not give away too much.

Ireland is still part of the "get stars" at all cost mentality. I guess the last 3-4 years hasn't taught him anything and I guess GSW building from the ground up hasn't gotten through his thick skull yet either.

If your are a dingbat like Ireland, sure. Unfortunately, smart people have probably gotten passed that way of thinking and came back to reality. Reality is no stars are coming now and no star is going to want to be traded to LA, knowing it would mean the team's talented would get gutted. See Kobe trade demand in 2007.

Lakers look to have hit on the draft the last 3 years on almost all their picks. You do not throw that away if you dont have to. Lakers need to start winning and then the big timers will come. GS will be a force. So, whatever team wants to compete with that team, has to create a super team as well. Ours will just be half 2/3 organic, 1/3 acquired.

I really dont get the Russ hate. He hasn't done anything to warrant it. Besides the nick fiasco, which to me is a personal thing, a mistake, whatever, he's young. By all accounts he's a hard worker and good teammate.

Well if it's coming from ESPN anti Lakers activists ..... seriously I would imagine this chump :Headpoint:

working for them now has some effect in ratcheting that up so he looks less totally inept for the past 2 years than he was. They'll start crediting his tough love for helping mold DAR and Julius. Can't believe this tool has a job with them now, with them already a hotbed of Lakers hate.

This, but I'd even take it a step further.

I wouldn't include D'Angelo in a trade for Westbrook, even if Westbrook signed an extension. What's the point? GS got it locked up for the next 3-4 years barring injury or act of god. Are we talking about trading D'Angelo just to make the playoffs?

Russel, Durant, and Curry are all around the same age, and will be 30 or 31 iin 3-4 years and on the decline around the same time as GS starts to fall. LaBron will be around 34 or 35 and a non factor. Russell won't even be 25 by then.

Let's just watch our young core develop and see what we have rather than make pointless moves. If we get Westbrook via free agency fantastic, but I'm not up for trading any of our core for him. Durant to GS changed the whole landscape of the NBA, and what I believe should be our plans for the immediate future.

I'm with @Weezy and @Barnstable. Call me a homer, but I wouldn't trade D'Angelo for very many players. If we can't win the title next year or the year after, what's the point? Develop and roll the dice. I like our chances going forward.

    PG: D'Angelo
SG: ________________ (I'm not sold on Jordan as a starter, so I see an upgrade here)
    SF: Ingram
    PF: Randle
C: Moz or Zoo. Split the minutes and I like it. The center position is pretty obsolete, so we can get by with those 2. Didn't hurt GS or Cleveland the past 2 years.

So, we're set at 4 out of 5 positions. We can build the bench around Jordan and parts.

I'll also say we've got a young head coach that is going to grow with the team. Everyone should be excited. Why blow it up for a rental of Westbrook when we're not winning a title with him in the next year or two?

    Enjoy the process.

BSPN is such a joke. Was listening to 710 earlier, they were saying we should trade for Westbrook and that we should trade D'angelo instead of Ingram and refuse to trade Ingram.

Now personally I wouldn't trade either of them - but Ingram hasn't even played an NBA game and you refuse to trade him but willingly offer Russell? Daf**? The general media craps on the Lakers so unanimously that I have to ask myself if I'm wearing rose tinted glasses.
    But nah, they're just haters.

Totally agree.. Trading Russell for anyone doesn't make much sense. In a couple of years when we are ready to start winning championships again Russell will be better than the person we traded him for. Patience and it will come.

Seriously. What is the obsession with Boogie Cousins? I don't get it. He's a loser. He has ever won more than 30 games before? I'm sorry, but true stars should be able to at least make his team competitive and it's not like that Kings squad is the worst in the league. He's a terrible fit for our system because he holds onto the ball the whole damn shot clock, he's inefficient, doesn't play defense, and doesn't make teammates better. On top of that he's a head case. Westbrook I understand trading D'Angelo for him because he's at least a proven SUPERSTAR. Argurably a top five player and potential MVP candidate. If OKC wins more than 50 games I think he should win it because that team isn't good without Durant. Cousins though? No we can do better and a lot better. I still wouldn't even do the trade for Westbrook because as Barnstable mentioned nobody is beating the Warriors anyway and I don't think it's worth trading a future star for Westbrook if it won't result in anything, but a probable sweep in the first round. Just let him come aboard next offseason if he wants or he doesn't come at all. I at least could see the logic more so than trading for a loser like Cousins. Westbrook has Kobe's DNA.

I completely agree with all of this. He puts up big numbers on a bad team. I just ft think he's a winner at this level.
