Russell isn't Kidd or Nash. Those guys are more natural facilitators as is Simmons. D'Angelo is more of a natural scorer with a great ability to pass. There are times when he makes bad decisions, gets sloppy, as he gains more experience I think he'll find more of a balance in scoring and facilitating.

Russell tends to pick and probe more than Simmons who sees plays developing ahead of time. Our young lead is also trying to figure out how and when to score if the sequence breaks down. Hard to pick up assists when Ingram and Brown are ineffective.

Or we could simply trade him for McConell.

Prior to Russell's game winner, they were having a "friendly" conversation on the floor. Russell probably let him know that it wasn't over and he has the last say. And say he did!

I did, but then I always have to remind myself that I don't think he was a PG until either at OSU, or until last season with us. I can swear I remember reading that Russ was a shooting/scoring guard until only recently when his passing skills started to get noticed so he moved positions. I guess the transition is tough, probably helps explain some of the turnovers.

Again, if he cuts down those TO'S, we probably don't need that 3 to win the game. 11 TO'S in two games. Cut it down.

They were doing it the whole game, which I didn't like. The troll TJ was psyching up DAR with small friendly smalltalk most of the game

It was the only way for McConnell to compete, get in someone's head and take their mind off the game. What I found surprising was Russell did not take him down on the low block and abused him...

He reminds me in some way of Van Exel...just not as quick and without the shadow boxing.

He got the clutch. Woooo boi.

Clean up those turnovers though, and more effort on D please. Still very young and learning a new system, so there's plenty of time to get it right.

Yeah I was really surprised with this too. Never saw him in the post the entire game.

Philly's defensive pressure was really effective during most of the game... Ingram and Nance were bringing the rock up. Russell though was very vocal with his displeasure on blown defensive rotations but he kept his cool.

yeah, and i bet philly fans wish ben simmons could hit a shot.

and i actually think russell makes a lot of really nice passes, but he still doesn't really have anyone who can do much with them. larry nance does.

Ben is an incredible play maker, but as we saw tonight he just doesn't have the aggressive mindset or the ability to hit clutch shots like D'Angelo. Unless he plays with another alpha male who has that ability I don't see him ever being a #1 guy on a championship team. Even with a jump shot he just doesn't have that clutch gene that D'Angelo has.
