About time to bench him now for the next 2 games and take a look at the other guys. Don't want him getting cocky. Oh wait ...... the Moron is gone.

Something that is going under the radar is that Russell went 5/5 on his free throws. Hopefully, he can shoot free throws 80%+ next season

That possession around the 4:15 of the first quarter was gorgeous. Nance setting the pick, Russell bouncing a pocket pass and Nance with the extra pass to Zubat; it turned into FT's. The offense is going to look so much more improved.

Started out really out of control, but settled down and dominated. He does need to take care of the ball a better though.

I wonder if that compression sleeve brace thing he was wearing on his hand a few days ago explains his careless dribbling turnovers? jammed thumb or something? Other than that, dude looked amazing!

I'm pulling for Nick Young to lead by example this season.

if he has a good showing in summer league, maybe we can parlay him into someone of mcconnell's stature in trade. i think espn suggested we might even be able to snag a jared sullinger type. fingers crossed.

Could be. I think the exciting part is we don't really know for sure. Between JC, Randle, and Russell I except it to be someone from this core. Randle been doing a lot of his work behind the scenes.

I'm just stoked that after Summer League some of our young guns get to keep the momentum going by training with the Team USA team - Ingram, Russell, and Randle

20 points is pathetic, he needs to average 30 or he's a complete failure- Tom Penn, ex NBA executive expert on failing.

I wasn't watching the ESPN showing of our game, so I didn't hear Penn talking about Russ, only saw the reactions in game time. I never got an answer on if he meant he needs to average 30 in summer league or the regular season, but either way it's a stupid thing to say.

If he meant summer league it's a stupid thing to say because that's not our goal right now, our goal is to get our new young players + Russ and Nance used to this system as early as possible, and to see if any summer league guys are worth signing. You're not gonna average 30 when you're sharing the ball with Ingram, Zubac and Nance trying to get some chemistry going.

If he meant the regular season, it's not stupid, it's moronic. This Laker team is built like the early 90's ones, not the Shaq and Kobe ones. We don't have 1 or 2 guys that are gonna average 30 and then this huge drop off. We have 8 players that can average between 10-20 PPG, and a system that's about ball movement and sharing. Nobody is averaging 30 on this team, the scoring will be spread around and most likely 6 of those 8 guys that can average double figures, will.

He meant the summer league. He went on comparing Russ to Mudiay who Penn said dominated the game before. So Penn insisted Russell should average 30 since Mudiay dominated an SL game. I then checked the Nuggets box score later and saw Mudiay scored 23. That according to Penn is a failure on the part of Russell because he recorded Nick Young being an idiot.

tom penn is seriously one of the stupidest people i've ever seen trotted out as an expert. it's actually kind of sad when espn puts him next to the screen on draft night whilst he moves names around on a board and makes no sense verbally. to think that an nba team had this guy making decisions in any capacity at any point is a condemnation of the entire enterprise, imo. it's as bad as memphis hiring hollinger.

Don't care that it's Summer League. That was an impressive game winner. That's why I think D'Angelo is gonna be great. He isn't afraid for taking clutch shots, he wants that pressure, he wants the ball in his hands, and he wants to be great. Just like a certain legend that just retired.
