There are a lot of happy folks in Laker land right now, but I'd bet my life savings none are happier than Mr. Russell. Can't wait to see what he looks like next year under Luke's guidance.

...that November game against Dallas when Russell commented about an actual offense being run? Well, he'll be in one come training camp. Now put away that cell phone and get your butt to work! :)

I was a little worried reading reports of how the Warriors don't run too many set plays and their practices involve blasting music and throwing up half court shots. But the more I think about it, I think D-Lo is going to excel in an environment like that. You can tell that when he's having fun and playing with swagger, he's at his best. In his exit interview, he mentioned something about how Kobe had given them advice on the importance of structure and routine, and he said he would definitely take the advice to heart but that he also feels he can pave out his own path to greatness. He's a competitive kid. He'll work hard in his own way and be more effective like that than having Byron be his drill sergeant.

Some people are worried that Luke's inexperience means he might not be the best at X's and O's. I'm not so sure how true that is, but regardless, I think D'angelo is so intelligent on the basketball court that things will work out anyways if you just put the ball in his hands.

Magic might say stupid things on social media but he's still the best point guard of all time so this is good

******G AWESOME!!! Holy crap Magic. So glad Byron is out of the way now.

D'Angelo you just stepped into basketball Nirvana last few days. A prodigy new and s.o.t.a.+ rookie coach to grow with that you will LOVE, and an offer from the greatest Laker ever ..... right "behind" the Guy you just saw drop 60 points in the final game of his career. This is VERY cool. Excited all over again, this past 10 days.

Well good to see Johnson getting involved as opposed to sniping from a distance. Props to Russell for seeking him out for guidance. Time to grow up and give the business...

Awesome. THIS is the kind of involvement from Magic I always wanted...not random obvious tweets or taking shots at the FO/coaches (though some of it was deserved).

    I agree.

We all give Magic a hard time (albeit deservedly so), but if he can tutor D'Angelo some then I can forgive his internet-stupidity.

I hope Russell and the other millennials saw the Laremy Tunsil saga then learn something from it... This media stuff cuts both ways.

It's good to see that DLo reached out to Magic for some mentoring and its real awesome to see that they will work out. Combine that with JC already back in the gym working on his game, firing of Byron and the Hiring of Luke. It's looking good so far.

Really glad to see Magic shut up long enough (whether it's on TV or twitter) to help out and better utilize his talents to the benefit of the organization.

Hopefully Russ can take full advantage of having Kobe and Magic working with him this summer. Honestly, if Kobe would set him up on a workout (bball & weights) routine and Magic shows him a few things on the court that he can implement going into next year, I'd be thrilled.

Hopefully he'll stay hungry and keep off the damn phone this summer.
