I know this word is thrown around a lot, but that's unbelievable. I literally cannot believe that. No wonder he reacted the way he did if he's never felt that before.

I think it took me 10 minutes into my first game to twist my ankle.

That really is crazy. Im just a weekend warrior but I've sprained my ankles countless times dating back to middle school when first started playing basketball.

How does one play sports and not know what a sprained ankle feels like?

That seems very odd, but I'm hoping it just means he is a freak of nature and genetically superior LOL

I played football, baseball, and basketball from 4th grade through high school, played intramural basketball and pickup ball through college, and played in grad school. Never sprained an ankle. Don't know what it feels like.

I've sprained my ankle walking down stairs before. It's horrendously painful.

Yes, this, I can't imagine it. I've sprained my ankle many times, a couple so bad it swelled up and I couldn't do much for a week or so. That was the only thing that got me about the whole thing, and I was half joking when I said it, that he reacted that way and scared the s*** out of me. I've sprained my ankle really, really bad, but I never laid out on my stomach, head down, like I'd been shot, or tore my knee apart, so it freaked me out when he did it. I hobbled around, or sat down legs bent and checked it out. I never said he was a wuss, or that he should be able to play on it afterwards or he's not a man or something. All I ever said was the reaction was a bit much for a sprained ankle.

Can't believe this is still being talked about. D'Angelo said he never sprained his ankle. He was clearly scared by the injury because he had never experienced. What are you guys calling him a liar? Cmon lay off the kid. Not everyone has experienced a sprained ankle.

What are you even talking about? What did anyone say about him being a liar? And what's the big deal with talking about this, that's what this place is for. I believe him, it makes complete sense, like realdeal said, no wonder he reacted that way if he never sprained an ankle, he probably thought he broke something. You seem to get too hung up on the literal meaning of a word or statement here. Unbelievable doesn't mean you don't believe the kid or are calling him a liar, it means it's hard to fathom and impossible to put yourself in his position. "You're crazy if" also doesn't literally mean you're crazy if..

Lol. I don't think anybody is calling him a liar. We're more just shocked that he's never sprained his ankle before.

Before today (in my little bubble of a life), I thought everyone had sprained his/her ankle at least once.

Trodgers -- you played LB in high school, right? I can't believe no one ever rolled on your ankle and sprained it. You're one lucky guy. (Buy me a lottery ticket and we'll split the money).

You guys are all p****** and need to man up.

I sprained ankles. Even on my arms. But then again, I had to shovel the snow while playing a game, both ways uphill, in blizzard.

I've sprained each ankle at least 3 times. Not fun. My left one is still weak and probably won't ever fully heal. I also suck at rehab. D'Angelo had a nice game tonight, still don't know why he got benched but we won.

I played basketball through grade school, high school and pick up games in college, and same with baseball through 2 years of high school. Never once sprained my ankle, luckily. Never have had a broken bone and never been punched in the face. Lucky me! :p

Once though around the 6th grade when I was a little a-hole ..... I stayed over at my buddy's house and we were tossing fruit at cars going by ( I know I know really stupid s*** to be doing) and then in the dark we were running across his front lawn to get to the back yard. I stepped into a sprinkler hole on one of those runs and twisted my ankle pretty bad. Got all puffed up on the outside and cost me the last several games of that little league season that summer. Yeah hurt like a muther. I deserved it.

Sprained my right ankle and broke my 5th metatarsus as a soccer goalkeeper by rolling over the ball when I was 17 :SmushFail2::SuperSmushFail2:

i sprained my ankle so many times that I think they may be almost unsprainable now (might regret that statement at my next pickup game). seriously, though, I think the ligaments are so stretched that I can roll the thing over and just keep going. probably why I'm so much slower now.

anyway, my sprains were almost always a result of elevating in a crowd and having no safe place to land. Russell doesn't spend a lot of time in the crowded paint, and when he gets there, he doesn't tend to get too high off the floor. if that's always been true, I could imagine not spraining an ankle. it's part of why harden's been so durable-guy barely leaves the floor, ever. add in that he doesn't move laterally on defense, and he's injury proof!
