No. And that's a pretty crappy way to start a dialogue on this site. You're better than that.

So are you serious? In that case, my "point" stands.

Also, I hear other people's injuries are the easiest.

It's a moderate sprain. Which means it's not "nothing" and it probably hurt as hell.

    P.S.

Also, GTFO is an exclamation. There is nothing dialogue-esque about it. Don't get why would you feel the need
to moderate me, of all people.

It's more than an exclamation. It's often used as a way to express disrespectful scorn. You may not have intended that, but the bare GTFO without explanation or added smiley could easily be taken that way. Also, I didn't take his response as an attempt to "moderate" you, but as a heads up re: how your post came across to him.

Back on topic. I've had dozens of ankle sprains over the years from playing ball. Some of the complete black and blue variety. I've never once layed out like that. I'm guessing he did because he said he doesn't ever sprain his ankles so maybe it was a new experience for him. I had a friend who I played ball with who acted like he was shot every time he rolled an ankle. It didn't make him a wuss, but he was for sure over dramatic about it. I'm more like the Kobe / old school approach to injuries.

Alright, struck me as odd, though. Moving on.

    ___

Well, you have to remember that everyone is different. And he pushed off of it too.

I don't think he was too dramatic. Perhaps he was just worried, given Jules history last year and his first "real" NBA injury.
Also, people here laugh sore throat off, but I can't imagine being able to play an NBA game with it, as it comes with other "perks" like mucus and congestion.

You know how I can point out people that never played ball in HS or College?
They think you can play at a high level with an ankle sprain.

Yes Kobes a freak. 98% of players see their performance drop when injured.

Wasn't there a player who wasn't able to go because of a hangnail? I could've sworn it's SuperClown in Houston. Russell is only 19. He'll have his kiddie moments.

If he continues to play like that he will quickly become my favorite current Laker. I thought Clarkson was, but Russ is about to over take him for me.

Yeah it's not like we've watched Kobe do it for 20 years, Clarkson do it just last week, or Larry Nance twist his ankle and come back in the game later on.

I played sports through high school and college for a good 12 years or so. I'm a personal trainer. My wife is a physical therapist. Your not-so-subtle shot is pretty funny actually.

Besides I never said he a) had to keep playing or b) should keep playing. I said he overreacted when he twisted his ankle by collapsing in a heap on the floor as if he'd been trampled by a fat, angry rhinoceros. He's young. I know he'll learn from this and grow and after some healthy ripping from his teammates he'll likely stop overreacting like that.

Text is difficult to translate. It lacks tone. If I responded to your post with just the word "BULL****", it could be misconstrued in the exact same way.

Besides you didn't elaborate further. How else was I going to take it? :D

I get being scared. It's part of being young. That doesn't mean we can't give him crap for it. That's part of the process of how he'll learn not to make a big deal out of things. I thought he tore his Achilles the way he collapsed on the floor.

After watching the video, it was strange how he was able to finish the layup pretty easily then was able to take a couple hops then just layed there. But who am I to judge someone else's body? Missing a game for a sore throat also seemed a little fickle. Well, he is playing tonight isn't he?

Baseball players are another breed as well. They get stuck in the ribs, on the elbow, the wrist sometimes with a 95+ mph heater at the plate and just pull off their batting glove and trot or walk to first most of the time. They never even freaking touch the spot they just got nailed with a hard ball at 95+ mph. They "man up". Show all kinds of "grit". Crazy to not even show a wince of pain or touch the spot.

Yeah he's playing tonight. Atta kid. If you can go, go. If you can't, don't.

I hope that's one thing Kobe imparts on these guys.

I've been playing ball since 1980. In 01 I twisted my ankle. Heard a pop, felt like I got shot and knew, just knew it was broken. I was laid out and had no idea how I was gonna get to the hospital, let alone get off the court.

I demanded they do xrays. They said nothing was broken and to rest it. I just knew they were wrong.

I was playing on it 3 days later.

Point being, the immediate pain can cause DAR to act the way he did without it being broken or him being weak.

The big sissy puss couldn't even finish the game tonight. Didn't look to me like the ankle hurt much. Needs to grow a pair and man up.
