Was coming to post this quote as well. I got all these goosebumps when I heard him say this live in the postgame interview. I just love the confidence, chip on shoulder, competitiveness, cockiness, whatever you want to call it. He's the real deal.

    So glad we picked him!

That's exactly the kind of mindset big time, superstar, franchise altering players have. That was always one of the things that got me sold on D'Angelo. That swagger, that confidence, that whole mindset. He believes he can be great. He believes in himself. He has all the tools and now it's starting to really come together for the young fella. He's got that dog in him, that killer/assassin type mentality. He doesn't shy away. He wants that ball in his hands. He's shown good leadership making sure everyone gets in the right spots. He's only gonna get more dangerous with more experience.

Not in ^^^ this guy's alternate universe.... who knows when he'll be motivated to do what the whole NBA has to be seeing by now, vs starting Lou. Who's really not a point guard. And giving DAR and Clarkson their time together to effing grow as a tandem force in the back court.

It's a damn no brainer to start Russ. He's our best pg, needs the development time, and like you said needs time to mesh playing with Clarkson. But, that won't happen any time soon because we are saddled with a cancerous coach.

If he had had a quality coach this year I do believe he would have been right in the running for ROTY. If he gets back in the starting lineup soon and has health, he may still yet get some votes for it. In spite of the A-hole.

That was an awesome glimpse of the future. Russell taking control in the 4th alongside Julius and JC. Yes... we ain't seen nothing yet because with the right coach and consistent playing time for him and the other two kids... we'll be back on top!

Yeah ..... but .....who could we get for a "right" coach, with good team, good systems background, championship pedigree in the League like Boron, but be infinitely better as a communicator with young players and motivator. New, young 1st time NBA head coach to take a flyer with. Who would appreciate the Lakers rich history and want to be here. You're asking for the impossible, perfect scenario. What are the odds?

Wait.... who's that guy in your avatar??

    1. Awesome game. We've seen big things before and glimpses of talent before, but last night was the first time we've seen that kind of confidence. This kid was FEELING it. He was ready to go. Fantastic showing by the young man and it can only get better.

    2. Time to let him start. That was the turning point. Randle needs a a lot more work on help defense and Nance Jr. is playing too well right now, but Russell is ready to step back into that role.

    3. For once I agree with Byron: man up kid. :D It was an ankle sprain and it looked painful, but damn dude I thought he tore an Achilles. He was down for the count. This upcoming summer he desperately needs to add some muscle to that lower body. Get in the gym with Ju and Jordan and get stronger man because we can't have him TKOed on a sprained ankle.

I don't need advanced metrics to tell you that D'Angelo Russell should be coming off the bench
