I agree 100%. Movement shooters are rare. Reddick will milk that to the max, and also has a good excuse to play him because he is a more mature rookie. Pelinka will say something like well after seeing how Jacquez helped Miami last year, etc. Not that any excuses are needed.

I believe the other was Trey Murphy.

*Edit - it was actually Daniels as @abeer3 points out below.

As I waited to see if we would pull the trigger as he fell, I kept thinking about JJ mentioning when it comes to the draft people really overthink it and good basketball players fall. Happy to see it wasn't bs and we drafted Kinecht.

The front office learned it’s lesson about getting the consensus best player available and not get cute and reach

was murphy ours or theirs? i can't keep track. for some reason i though dyson daniels was ours, but maybe it was murphy. if knecht is as good as murphy, that's a win. murphy's a valuable player, imo.

i think the last weakness is overblown given the evidence here. looks like on almost every shot he got contact, and there's evidence that he both gets to the line and finishes through contact. nobody does it all the time.

i think the concerns about passing and defense are very real. and the concern that he's unlikely to just break nba defenders down in isolation is also real (but not important to me).

Actually you are right. Murphy is the only one of their picks that I really remember (for obvious reasons lol) but he was from Memphis.

Daniels was the pick they got from us.

He has one great skill we need, and I hope he can translate at the NBA level.

I do think he has the physical attributes to become a passable defender.

    Love the pick overall.

Yeah. I do think the hype is warranted here. We got a guy with a lot of potential.

That could contribute right away. Don't really care about the ceiling. He really needs to work defensively, though. Just don't become such a liability where we have to take you out, please.

That and combined with his shooting ability and skill to come off screens, we're golden. We could really open up the floor.

Agreed. I think his offense is ready and will translate. If he can just be okay on defense then we are good to go IMO.

Same. Remember, LBJ loves shooters and this is where Reddick has to earn his $8 million a year. Mentor this kid, get in his ear, and put him in advantageous situations so that we could maximize his skillset effectively.

He's like a real 6'5" without shoes. Klay (in his prime) was very good defensively for a long time. Same physical measurables. Klay was also a good athlete, but I don't remember anything standing out (in his prime) with this athleticism. He had moments, but I don't remember him attacking the paint with an abandon and finishing over everybody. He had good lateral quickness with his ability to stay in front of smaller guards and a big body to guard the bigger 2's.

Dalton seems like a good athlete Don't know how he could move side to side; there's a video of him staying in front of smaller guards; he's stayed in front of a few and also got blown by, but that's going to happen. We just don't want it to happen "enough" where we have to take your shooting off the court. But yeah, we shall see. I'm just rambling. Had some time this morning. Now much go seize the day!

I think him and Max will play the same positions/role. So they both have to show they're ready to contribute, otherwise we are probably getting rid of one of them

i think it's max lewis that plays the same theoretical role. he'd also be easier to move than other guys being mentioned, should the need arise.

I'm guessing best case scenario is Max and Knecht are the 2 and 3 backups no? Like:
    DLo or Dinwiddie/Gabe
    Reaves/Knecht
    Rui/Max
    Bron/Vando
    AD/center

That's a 10 man rotation considering we don't get another wing. We are switching Prince for Max and Reddish for Knecht. So we would be betting high on them being instant contributors.
I think we have to do it but it's a gamble in a win now situation.
I would like to get a wing, but I'd rather focus on a center and Gabe insurance

Knecht isn't as bad as DLO.. I was watching what I could find. Knecht works hard on defense and is strong but absolutely needs some coaching on technique but he is the kind of guy you can fix bc he isn't scared.

With Lewis’ athleticism, he can turn into a very good defender, if he wants it bad enough. He does have a lot of improvement to do, but he’s got a great 3 and D body.
