I don't care how he sounds. What has he done that hurt Americans??. What has your president done better?

I disagree. Unlike Italy and many European nations, Trump shut down travel from China on January 31st. Hence why Italy is suffering more deaths than us right now despite a smaller population.

I am not sticking up for Trump, but other than South Korea, no country has responded to this well.

Yes, the reality is that this is institutionally difficult to take action against on a national scale.

But I’m not sure if there have been any other countries whose leaders/administration have actually dismissed the virus as a hoax on the part of their political opponents. That is incredibly irresponsible, and the damage has already been done. There was a Fox News anchor who had a whole segment on how this was another democratic conspiracy to try and impeach Trump. There are probably hundreds of thousands of Trump supporters who have seen that (and similar comments from the actual administration) and now no matter what happens they’ll think it’s true and not heed the actual scientific advice.

Trump never said the virus was a hoax. He is saying that the Democrats blaming him and his actions are creating a hoax. Sorry you didn't pay attention :(

There has been some of that, but look at Europe right now. All the so-called smarter countries are acting just as, if not more reckless than the "stupid Americans." Germany, France, Britain...they are all going out and doing whatever they feel like it. At least America has completely empty shelves which tells me some people are paying attention.

Yup, you’re right. Just looked it up. I don’t think that nuance registered to all of his supporters though and he needs to be more careful with his language, especially when many of the critiques of how we’ve handle this have been valid.

My biggest worry is the poor folks who won't be able to survive without work or any economic means to purchase essentials with their children not having to attend school or other programs that would generally occupy their time. More has to be done by the public and private entities to help these people out. And why the hell do people STILL have to pay property taxes? They need to pause any payments required... Sickening that people have to pay for services that they probably won't be able to use while they aren't earning any income!

If they could just convince everyone to not charge for power, water, rent, etc. for the next month it would save lives. Literally save lives since no one will need to leave the house to work a job they can't eat without. If nobody is paying, then everyone can afford to get by on very little money. Buy ramen and live off that for a couple weeks while we all stay home not having to worry about having our electricity being shut off.

Not sure if it’s just my echo chamber, but I feel like I’m seeing a lot of developing support for an emergency form of Andrew Yang’s UBI idea. Even Mitt Romney has proposed to give every American $1000 right now so they can ride out the storm.

Trump is planning to get cash payments to citizens now. I'm sure there will be restrictions on who qualifies but this is the best news yet. They are also looking into deferring payments for taxes, etc.,

I hope they take into account t where you live. Californians get screwed on stuff like that because we make more, but it costs more so it's all relative. My company is doing temporary pay cuts for EVERYONE. I am in the financial industry, so it's getting dicey.

My clients own their own companies, and I know they are all getting nervous and looking to reduce overhead while revenue is down.

this kind of thing will affect everyone. I visited my programmer in the Philippines and thought I might stay a month. Very well could be several months before I could leave now. Luckily I’m ok getting stuck here :)

And that's just the people who have been tested. Since a lot of people are being told not to come in with mild symptoms, and estimates as high as 50% of people have no symptoms at all, I wonder what that number actually is?
