I'm friends with SOAD too. He created an account here and posted a few times. imo, Slim was the best poster at CL (in the Open Court)
Yes SOAD was a good dude, although slightly impulsive Iceberg Slim was a fantastic writer. Too bad he didn't post too much anymore. Very thoughtful. And ya, I miss Satan too... On the other hand a bunch of those longtime CL guys are still around here....we are in a good place. This forum lives the values that made CL strong. Respectful to eachother. It sounds weird but we are "friends" here even though we might disagree here and there with each other which is a positive because thats what the forum lives for (different opinions).
LOL AAHAHAHAHA....Yuanyo or something...what was his name again? He got quite a lot of heat (deservedly ).
When I was on the archive I saw many familiar old names. strikemode14 was one that stuck out to me. Also L4L And I joined June 8, 2005
GCMD mandingo Jimbo327 Mookie Bigsleepy DNP DMK Ring It Up Dre Naismith Going down the list of names on CL brings back lots of memories
Danny Ainge (Got the funniest avatar that time IMO) emplay (Pincus, right?) Janine Garcia (The lass who wanted us guys to shave our armpits like The Machine) MamaThereGoesThatMan
Let us reminisce pre-Free Agency period 5 years ago today... So here are the threads on the first page of NBA Discussion:
i miss that chick from hawaii that liked boxing and Crucifido...his articles were the reason i joined back in 07 i think
Iceberg Slim! Also remember when Sky was posting, GuRu, BDG, Danny Ainge etc. Also in NBA Discussion the All time draft was an absolutely fantastic thread, the detail and depth was amazing.
I remember before CL there was Lakertalk with FatSam the owner/moderator. I joined that one in 2001, iirc. Wonder where FatSam is now. My favorite poster back then was Sky. Wonder where he is now. There were several LT'ers including FatSam who actually got together for a few trash talk bball games in 2003 and -04. Gonna see if I can still find a few photos from those. Think LT died around 2007? I found a post of mine on CL, now I know I joined there in January 2006, while I was still living in London. When CL died, that was around the time I said goodbye to 90% of my social media participation. Damn time sinks. Which is why I don't have 3000 posts here like I did on both LT and CL, and 4500 on another totally unrelated forum.
