that sounds right--his best minutes came at the pf spot. i just know that he stayed below average on defense and suddenly forgot how to play offense, too. so he was a negative on both ends.

expecting that trend to reverse coming off a year-long injury is wild.

He’s been probably the most productive vet min contract across the league. Averaging 13/5.5/6.5 with good defence and shooting 48% from the field. I’m not trying to bring this discussion up but he has been excellent for Denver. He’s value is at a MLE kind of level.

I’d love to have a vet min doing that for us at the SG spot right now.

As for Wood, I’m hopeful he can come back and be productive even as an offensive weapon. It’s always better to have a deeper bench ready to go than scraps.

our definitions of excellent are different.

but yes, the nba finally found a talent big enough to cover for him a bit and a team shallow enough to have to play him.

Lol..pure hating...you stoop low enough to cap on a 36 year old dude, on a vet minimum contract! SMH..get over it man, Russ is still way above playing in China. Tinkerbell probably won't be able to get a gig in Cuba by 35!

I don’t have a lot of faith in Wood, and like I said, he’s not the mold we need, but, he might be one of the only options we have. I don’t expect much, but I’d still prefer he were available and an option. Also, Gabe looked pretty awful last season even before he was injured, so maybe we can hope that Ham was just that bad, and that Wood can also return to being serviceable.

It’s relative excellence right? Show me vet minimums (that aren’t rookie contracts) having a greater impact on winning and performing better.

Obviously SGA is excellent and Russ isn’t. But I’m talking about value provided vs contract pay. That’s what makes Reaves such a valuable guy for us.

Reaves though would be valuable for us at 30M a year with how he plays the game and what he does for this team. Doesn’t change the point you’re making … just saying. ;)

Did Ham ever say that? I know Handy in year 1 or 2 said AR was going to be a special player.

Ham said that Austin was going to be an All-Star, and he would be right there coaching him. Famous last words..lol
