would have loved to have seen this team at full strength, but next man up is all you can do. We were not built to withstand injuries too well unfortunately.
That’s the story of this season those two guys, Vando and Wood, not able to play OR be “desirable” to another team in a trade. IMO it would have made a huge difference while waiting to try to make a trade that “makes sense”/doesn’t bend us over with Lakers tax. We’re in the upper standings with them. Pffft …. stoopid Rob!!
That’s insane. To have players that just die year after year after year, something has to be up with our medical staff and/or how we monitor injuries, no? Just from the last 3/4 years that’s Nunn, Gabe, Vando, and Wood.
if any of them go on to healthy production elsewhere, i can buy that it's something weird we do. otherwise, just seems like bad luck? in fairness, vando was never really a super healthy guy, iirc. part of the reason he slipped in the draft was his injuries, i think. nunn and gabe were miami guys, so it's possible that some training shift precipitated their respective deaths. though gabe has seemed to recover. wood never struck me as a guy who worked on his body at all, so i'm not shocked that his first big injury has basically ended him. the one that bothers me the most is vando, both because i love his game and because i feel like we should have been more cautious about a 4-year deal given his injury history. the deal made me think we felt really confident his issues were behind him. we obviously misjudged that pretty substantially, and it seems like the foot issues should have maybe been foreseeable?
bizarre that he's not going to even try to get another contract after all that bluster. dude's just going to exit stage left.
