I’m confused? Wood yes, I see you mean. I was referring to people who see no sense in Hayes. I’d also disagree with your opinion above on how McGee was for us in the championship season.
My apologies as I thought you were referencing Wood and not Hayes. I love the Wood signing and a big meh on the Hayes one.
Hayes looked terrible from what I’ve seen of him, he brings a kind of Wily Cauley Stein level of uselessness
guys who have never won anything should never post stuff like that Get there first newb. You have no idea what it takes to be a champion or to have a team want you to return year after year. How about we solve that riddle first before putting a target on your team's back for boldly predicting a championship you are unqualified to comment on. Geez. Get off my lawn too.
you're generally right about mcgee, but the 19-20 version was a great defender by the numbers. that was probably his best year overall as a pro (his 18-19 season with us was good, too, btw). we were right to move on from him, as he reverted and regressed after that. but i think it could be argued (pretty easily, actually) that he was better than howard when they were both here. now maybe that was under vogel, and the same principles don't apply here, but i generally think having versatility helps. thus i thought hayes plus a beefier guy would give us what we needed. now we've got a bunch of twigs. i'd take wood over hayes, though, if that's what the discussion is about.
Naw bro...I see it the other way. We are the LAKERS!!! The target is always on our back. This is our history, it's who we are, it's in our DNA. We are known for taking other teams former draft picks, sometimes they are considered to be, outcasts, misfits and supposed " problems". We turn them into Champions. Every player on this team should have 18 posted in their locker. Like Lebron said after game 4. We aren't here to make a nice run, have a feel good story about the season, our goal is the chip. Falling short is not to be considered some kind of success. When you put on that Purple and Gold, you have to step into the light, and embrace the challenge. You can't hide here.
You step into the Lion's den, you better be ready for what's coming your way. The Laker Nation will be watching, you have to rise to the occasion, or move on here buddy.
as others noted, he looked out of shape. like, to the eye, not just the way he was moving. his iso scoring might help us against some second units, in any case.
He was determined to leave his mark on that 3rd Q... for better or worse. Ways to go before he's making a positive impact.
I don't like a guy with so much on the line to be in such bad shape. Bad vibes and lack of awareness.
I think he'll look better offensively with some playmakers out there. That second unit he was with was guys just putting up shots. Bron, Dlo, and Reaves hopefully have him looking better so he doesn't just have to iso and force.
He needs some table setters out there. Numerous times he was open for a pick and pop 3 but the guards were just looking for theirs. I saw him show obvious frustration at that. He did look way less athletic than he did in Dallas though. He packed on quite a few pounds it seems.
Just doesn't rub me the right way that a guy who's fighting for his NBA life and trying to prove he's not a minimum guy, that he's learned, grown, changed, etc. shows up out of shape.
