Other than shooting jumpshots to space the floor I dont know how much he can offer at his age. He will take contest pull up mid range Js like Westbrook but if he has it going, keep feeding him
That's what I like with our new players, they can fake the run out 3 and pull up for a mid range jumper. Lakers will need that in the playoffs when teams tighten up , playing harder running out those three's
That looks easy to do though… grabbing those rebounds. Seriously though how the f does someone swish so many 3 pointers in a row, I mean I know it’s practice, but damnnnnn!!
^ Because he's among the smoothest, most dangerous offensive players ever. Has a soft touch and a variety of moves from mid range and under the basket. He is just old now... but that's why he plays for the minimum for us. People were like - Melo is done, no way he can come back. He's not fast or quick and it's all about shooting the 3-pointer now. Melo - "Hold my beer" - shoots 41% as a 36-year old.
So enjoyable to watch three pointer after three pointer just swishing through the net. I'm psyched on Melo coming here. I've always been a fan and I want him to get that ring with us! He can still get his as we saw on the Blazers. I'm looking forward to a death lineup at the end of games with him, Westbrook, Ellington or Blaze, Lebron and AD. Buckets!
He's just so bad on defense: Almost every advanced stat says he's terrible on defense: breaking it down looks like he just doesn't move enough to be effective on D even as a stretch 4. What would help is getting into really good shape and dropping weight like Lebron has done but Melo just never seemed to be able to put the work on the body end of things like Kobe or Lebron
I've been watching a lot of Carmelo the past couple days from his portland time. He still has more than I thought. He still has some lift, made a few defensive plays, still positions himself well. With his current motivation I'm expecting big things out of him.
I think everyone probably expects his motivation to do that this year, in this great chance to finally play with his longtime friend LeBron (and likely others) for an excellent chance at a ring before he has to hang it up ..... to be off the charts. As someone else said he won't want to be "the one" that lets everyone down for not giving it his all.
He's atrocious on defense, but in the end, Steph has won two MVP's and three titles with defense that's less effective than a dwarf hamster's.
