Melo has always been able to shoot. He will always be able to shoot, that's who he is. He would have had a title in 2009 had Kobe not been in God mode at that time. If Melo's body holds up through the year, he will win the Lakers more than a few games.
Melo been ballin'. His stroke looks pretty much perfect right now. He is slow footed on D and doesn't move as "athletic" as he used to but damn.... What was the last time a "supposed" shooter came to LA and over-achieved? It seems like nobody could shoot at Staples for whatever reason. And then comes Melo, who isn't even a known 3 point shooter and has just recently started to make a decent percentage. I just hope he can keep it up for a while, we gonna need it. We can't even get seperation at home against scrub teams while Melo is making 6-7 threes off the bench. If he makes 5 threes instead of 7, we lose. lol
Random but Really cool Stats for the Win. :THT Heart Hands: ….. and he freaking obliterated that 50% benchmark over most of those 8 games.
another 38 minutes in an overtime game Cmon coach. Gonna need this guy not to be gassed by the end of the year.
Yes, we don't have a choice. Without Melo (or Russ) playing heavy minutes, we can't really win. Need a primary playmaker on the floor, need a scorer/shooter too.
not having ariza and THT is forcing melo onto the floor more. we'll get one back shortly, so hopefully we don't break the old guy in the process.
He struggled some last night, especially for Staples Melo. Old faithful mid-range still looked sharp. I chalk the performance up to probably the best defense he's seen against him since in a few years. Miami has the size at forward with Tucker and Butler (early) to make Melo work. They doubled him and swarmed him. It looked like they did more work scouting him than AD or Russ. Difference next time is those guys will be who draws the Bron matchup so Melo will go back to being open.
Had his worst game as a Laker. 1 for 12 from the field and 1 for 8 from 3. No idea why he played 23 mins even if he didn't have it tonight. He committed an unnecessary flagrant foul on a 3 to end the 1st Q. Lakers never recovered after that point. I believe we had a 7 point lead at that time
I guess he's starting to realise that he has signed with the Lakers so the shooting curse is starting to set in.
It was always obvious he won't be able to sustain that type of shooting for an entire season lol. He will have stinkers just because of his age and the nature of shooting touch coming and going. I still think he has so far been the best positive surprise this season. There aren't many positive surprises to begin with. Melo and Reeves have overachieved. Bron and Davis have played as expected and the rest are letdowns.
running an old dude 38 minutes will take his legs out. Can't expect him to do that very often, and much less back to back games.
